Description

‘Pearl Beach Retreat’ is a classic 1950’s beach house located within the gorgeous National Trust village of Pearl Beach, just 90 minutes north of the Sydney CBD.

Set deep amongst the rainforest canopy in the tranquil northern end of the village, the house is just 250 metres (a three minute walk) from the secluded beach cove. Backing directly onto the National Park, the house is a haven for wildlife and provides the ideal location for families or couples to relax and totally unwind.

Featured in SMH ‘Domain’ magazine in June 2009, the house has been renovated and is tastefully furnished in circa 1950’s Danish furniture. It contains 3 bedrooms and expansive internal living areas which flow onto spacious outdoor entertainment areas at both the front and rear of the house.

Activities available within the local area include: swimming, surf lessons, kayaking, fishing, boat hire, tennis, golf and some amazing bush walking. Good restaurants within the area include: Pearl's, Bells (Kilcare), Patonga Hotel and those at Palm Beach are just a 20 minute ferry ride away.

Please note:
1. Small and medium sized dogs are allowed on application
2. No smoking is allowed inside the house
3. Linen and towels not provided

The Living Areas

With five separate and distinctively different living areas, Pearl Beach Retreat provides numerous options for both relaxing and entertaining.

FRONT DECK
Constructed in spotted gum, the large elevated front deck is nestled in the large gum trees at the front of the property. Fitted with an external shower, foot bath, bench table and secure equipment store it provides the perfect place to load / unload all your things when coming to and from the beach.

SUNKEN LOUNGE ROOM
The lounge room is a separate cosy space that connects to main entry and front deck. It is fitted with a 4 seat ‘Parker’ lounge, 2 lounge chairs, a large coffee table, teak built-in bookshelf and a king sized day bed. It also contains a wall mounted 94cm HD LCD digital television, DVD, VIDEO and CD players, not too mention plenty of good books, board games and jigsaw puzzles.

DINING / LIVING ROOM
This generous open planned space connects directly to the kitchen, reflection pond, BBQ island and both courtyards. It is furnished with a large teak B&B style ‘breakfast’ buffet unit and a gorgeous 10 seat ‘Parker’ teak table. The room also has its own IPOD dock.

KITCHEN
Designed for the gourmet traveler, the kitchen is incredibly well equipped with all the mod cons including fan-forced oven, gas cook top, range hood, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and freezer. Other fittings and appliances include: juicer, coffee plunger, sandwich maker, blender, kettle, toaster, plenty of pots and pans, non stick wok…etc.

COVERED COURTYARD / BBQ ISLAND
The large rear covered courtyard is paved in travertine and opens onto the lush landscaping that leads up into the National Park. Complete with a 5 burner ‘Beef Master’ stainless steel gas BBQ, a 12 seat teak dining table, outdoor lounge chairs all overlooking a succulent garden – it provides a great space for year round al fresco dining.

REAR COURTYARD / FIRE PIT
Separated from the covered courtyard by the succulent garden and timber bridge, the rear courtyard provides an intimate and relaxing space to enjoy the great outdoors. Fitted with a teak sun bed, outdoor fireplace and timber bench seats – it’s the perfect place to either top up your suntan during the day or toast a few marshmallows under the evening stars.

The Bedrooms

While the house is ideally suited to eight people, it can accommodate an additional two people on the king sized day bed that is located in the lounge room. Typically the sound of the ocean at night ensures everyone has a good sleep.

MAIN BEDROOM
The large master bedroom is a gorgeous space, with walls lined in Queensland Maple, extensive banks of louvres and concealed timber pelmet lighting. It is fitted with a queen sized bed, built in robes, an assortment of 1950’s light fittings, Danish teak furniture and a retro wall fan. The main bedroon has its own private ensuite bathroom, which is decorated in keeping with the theme of the house.

SECOND BEDROOM
The second bedroom is a good size, looks out onto the rear courtyard and enjoys views into the National Park. It is fitted with a queen sized bed, an assortment of 1950’s Danish teak furniture and also has walls lined in Queensland Maple.

BUNK ROOM
The bunk room is located downstairs off the main living areas. It contains two built in timber bunk beds (4 beds in total) that connect to each other via a timber ladder. The beds are slightly wider than normal and come complete with built in storage areas and reading lamps. While totally suitable for adults, kids absolutely love this space. The bunkroom also connects directly to a small bathroom and the laundry.

  • "What a great house for a long weekend. Located in a lovely quiet street at Pearl Beach, close to Patonga and some other great spots. The kids loved the bunk room downstairs and the layout of the house was great for spending some quality time with the kids and good friends. Lovely owner and likely to be back again soon, thanks Dean."

  • "We had a fabulous time at the house and will definitely be returning. The spacious living areas has us relaxing in no time, and the kids loved the Bunk room - their own private retreat. With such a well equipped kitchen and BBQ area, we cooked up a storm, and the spacious dining area had us all sitting together and enjoying our feasts. We had such a great stay it was hard to go home, but did so in the knowledge that we would be back."

  • "Dear Dean, What a relaxing and peaceful stay my family enjoyed recently at "Pearl Beach Retreat". There was enough space for all to relax/unwind and it was great to all sit down together for dinner ... all ten of us. The kitchen was a delight to prepare a meal in. You have all the best gadgets! Every comfort was provided to us - from the beds, kitchen set-up, DVDs, books and living areas (indoor & out). And the bath is fabulous too! We all loved being outside with the lyre birds and bush turkeys. Another winner ... the beach is such a short stroll away. We'll be back in a heartbeat. Thanks again, Steph"

  • "Terrific house which I would very happily return to. In fact, it is such a great house that I am reluctant to review it lest it becomes too popular for me to book again. It is very well stocked with great cookware, an excellent collection of books and games, and carefully chosen retro furniture. No naff seashells or pastels in sight!"

  • "we stayed at this property for 2 nights and it was absolutely fantastic... it was winter while we were there but there was enough heating in the house to keep it nice and warm for the duration of our stay... the owner was very friendly and we will definitely be looking at renting this property again... the beach which was very close was beautiful... thanks again dean for a great weekend! we really enjoyed our stay!"

  • "Thank you for letting us stay at this gorgeous property. We had a wonderful time and even though the weather wasn't ideal for the beach for most of our stay, we enjoyed spending time in your beautiful house. The dogs enjoyed running around at the beach and it was great to be able to eat our meals toge= ther at the long dinner table. "

  • "This house was absolutely fantastic! All of the appliances were in perfect working order, they were also very modern and workable. The house itself is stunning and beautifully done out. The BBQ pitt and seating areas, both indoor and outdoor, look fantastic and are great for catering to a number of people. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!"

  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Pearl Beach house and couldn't get over how beautiful the house was. Everything was perfect, down to the smallest detail. The house looks like it is straight out of the pages of an interior design magazine, yet is also outfitted with all the little home comforts to make for a relaxed and enjoyable stay. We particularly enjoyed the fantastic kitchen and large outdoor BBQ area. I would recommend Pearl Beach to anyone looking for a lovely holiday home by the beach (just a few mins walk down the road) and plan to stay there again sometime myself. "
