Description

Rectory Park Cottage is a beautiful timber cottage set on a quiet and idyllic half acre with a public reserve and pond at the back of the property.

This peaceful and relaxing environment is ideal for a romantic getaway and is just a five minute walk from the shops and main village. The cottage is surrounded by pine trees, cherry blossoms and fruit trees and boasts old-fashioned features such as stained glass windows, yet has enough modern and comfortable furniture and details to make your stay a happy one.

The cottage has one large bedroom which comfortably fits both a queen double bed and a king single with ample storage space as well as a comfortable lounge and simple indoor dining. A double sofa bed in the loungeroom allows the cottage to convert to two bedrooms of relatively equal size. The kitchen area has all the mod cons for home dining and of course a dishwasher for cleaning up. There is a sheltered veranda featuring an outdoor dining table, fire place and BBQ as well as a second 'deck' within the garden for outdoor picnics and relaxing. The bathroom has a shower and bath and the toilet is an environmentally friendly self-composting toilet. There is also a laundry room suitably fitted out for all your cleaning needs.

We try to make this unique and beautiful cottage feel special and welcoming and we pride ourselves on our attention to the details that make your stay truly out of the ordinary. Organic coffee from the 'Daily Grind Coffee Company' as well as a variety of teas are provided for your enjoyment and we make sure we have the milk of your choice in the fridge. As a treat there are marshmallows and pop-corn as well as hot chocolate to enjoy by the open fire. Fresh tea light candles will be both inside and outside the cottage as well as fresh flowers to greet you.

The eco-friendly details such as green cleaning and products (by Tri-nature) allow you to experience a chemical free stay. Of course, we recycle and compost, so you'll have the added satisfaction of knowing that your special time away comes with a very small footprint on our beautiful environment.

We welcome wildlife including the ducks from the pond and parrots to the bird feeder and water that we have set up. Enjoy taking a bowl of seed outside to feed the birds at your leisure. This tree-filled oasis is full of bird and wildlife and the pond is a wonderful place to spot water monitors (lizards), wild ducks and other water birds.

We now feature art by Kangaroo Valley resident and prolific artist, Lisa Madigan, who has had 10 successful solo shows and was shortlisted recently for the Brett Whiteley prize.

As our recipies and eco tips grow, our facebook site has emerged. Go to for special offers and information as well as recipes.

For the children there are books, toys and colouring pencils. And we haven't forgotten grown-up reading time with 'Delicious' Cooking Magazines.

Features

The beauty of Rectory Park Cottage is not only in being a unique, eco-friendly cottage on a peaceful tree-filled property, but also in being conveniently close to the attractive Kangaroo Valley village. The timber cottage has such old fashioned delights as beautiful stained glass windows and an open fireplace on the veranda, but also has modern features for your comfort. The second deck is a great for kids to play and for outdoor picnics.

A small basket of 'outdoor' plates and glasses as well as cushions and a picnic rug is provided for outdoor dining and picnics on the deck, or can be used as a ‘kids’ set of plates and cups if needed. We also provide a set of outdoor chairs for your comfort.

Indoors, the dining table and chairs comfortably seat four and leather couches are perfect for relaxing. The cottage’s environmental design means that it is beautifully cool in the summer and cosy in winter. Firewood and pine cones are provided for the outdoor fire, and candles give light and atmosphere.

Rather than providing a stereo, making you bring a pile of CDs, there are speakers and a lead for you to plug in your own iPod and have your music ready to go. A large selection of DVD movies are also available for you to enjoy during your stay.

Guests are encouraged to 'think green' when staying at the cottage and to use the recycling and composting bins that are provided. The cottage is cleaned with green, chemical-free products and organic and local products are used where possible. Organic tea, coffee, milk and sugar are provided. (Just let us know what kind of milk you would prefer).

If you are staying with a little one, a travel cot, bedding and a high chair will be provided for your stay.

When strolling into town use the modern 'shopper' trolley to bring home your newspaper and treats from the village with ease. Kangaroo Valley is a plastic bag free town and a calico bag is also provided for your use during your stay.

If arriving in the evening or planning a special event, we are happy to help by making bookings at local restaurants or cafes on your behalf if needed. We pride oursleves on our customer service and knowledge about the area and things to do. Whether it is a romantic getaway, a family holiday or just time out, Rectory Park Cottage is a special place to stay.

  • "Fantastic location. Miffy provided absolutely everything you would ever need for a comfortable holiday stay. Charming, comfortable, cottage with all the modern cons. We will definately go back for a second stay."

  • "Rectory Park Cottage is the perfect couples getaway. So nice and peaceful, yet so close to many activities. The shops in Kangaroo Valley are great and shopkeepers so friendly. Cottage had everything you could possibly need and was great to have linen and towels supplied. I would definitely recommend leaving the kids at home and escaping from the city to this beautiful little hideaway."

  • "In need of a long overdue and well deserved break I searched the net for somewhere that would be perfect for me, no-one else to consider, I fell in love with the Rectory Park Cottage and from the moment I arrived I felt as if it had been created especially for me. I wanted to paint uninterrupted and in peace, so I took all my gear and spent 4 glorious days floating between the verandah perfectly shaded, the garden, peacefully calm, the kitchen, incredibly well equipped and bed, incredibly comfy, slept like a top. The cottage was so well catered, the only thing I needed to consider was food and drink. Not a single thing was forgotten, everything I looked for I found and then some. It was private without being isolated, just a short stroll into town. I was fortunate to be visited by the ducks from the pond, an echidna and a blue tongue who were interested to see what I was doing and kept me company during my stay. I think I have discovered my own private idaho and will definitely be returning. "

  • "If you're looking for somewhere to relax/recharge, this is the place. The cottage itself is compact and well equipped with eco touches but the real highlight is the under-cover outdoor table and the deck overlooking the pond. Aaaah! "

  • "Thank you so much for allowing us such a peaceful night in Kangaroo Valley. The cottage is so cozy and feels hugged by the lovely trees and gardens surrounding. We loved the little touches around the place and were most pleasantly surprised by the whole package. We only wish that we could have stayed longer and will definitely be coming back!"

  • "A beautiful location and a very relaxing cottage, we felt the weight of the world lift off our shoulders as soon as we set foot. Love the eco friendliness and our 3 year old didn't want to leave her Kangaroo Valley home."

  • "A beautiful cottage! Thank you Miffy for all the thoughtful, lovely little touches especially the flowers, candles and scented oils. We loved the combination of tranquility and being but a moments stroll to the village! We are already thinking of our Spring visit..."
    Michelle, July 2011

  • "Rectory Park Cottage is a little piece of paradise in the valley. Warm, cosy and comfortable, a wonderful place to lie in bed listening to and watching the rain fall outside. Location was peaceful and quiet, yet quite close to town as well. We recommend wombat spotting along Mt Scanzi Road in the early evening, particularly on rainy wet days. My tween-age son also loved the outdoor fire place. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing break."

  • "We loved our Stay at Rectory Park Cottage. The cottage is cute, comfortable and perfect for a weekend away for two. It was great to arrive to a pre-heated cottage, especially given the cooler temperatures outide! The location is also perfect - only a 5 minute walk from town made a trip to the bakery and cafe very easy! "
