Cicada Country House and Hunter Moon Country House (available from August 1) are situated in an idyllic setting at the foothills of the Broke Fordwich mountains and between some of the best vineyards in the Hunter. Set on 25 private acres only minutes to great restaurants and wedding venues such as Margans, Nightingales and the town of Broke. Sit on our decks and take in the views of vineyards and the kangaroos. Chill in our spas , one that takes 12 people. Or stroll down and fish or paddle in the Wollombi Creek meandering around the bottom of the property. We can take 6- 26 people depending on your needs. Both houses have everything a small or large group could hope for. Sit by the roaring fire or relax in the Spa on those cold starry nights. Chill out in central air conditioning on a hot day and take in the view down to the brook and out to the vineyards. The houses are planned and screened so your privacy and comfort are ensured yet close enough if you have a group booking.
Cicada has four beautifully dressed bedrooms with a romantic feel and all beds have been chosen for their comfort. The house has all the mod cons that will make your stay comfortable with a large flat screen LCD TV, DVD, X-Box 360 Kinetic and Ipod dock music system . The house has 4 bedrooms and a library alcove and has a total of 9 single sleeping arrangements or 5 couples. So bring all your favourite music and chill. Hunter Moon is a brand new country house with 5 bedrooms and all rooms can be configured to king singles or king beds. It has a total of 14 single sleeping arrangements or 6 couples. In addition to the 5 bedrooms there is a living room area that can be closed off with brand new, very comfortable fold out gel foam ottoman bed. All furnishings will be tastefully done.
You can cook up a storm in our country kitchens or have a private chef cook for you and relax on our large table that sits 12-14 people at Cicada and Hunter Moon will have outdoor covered dining seating for up to 26 people. For a relaxing easy meal at Cicada, cook up on the 6 burner barbeque with wok and then unwind in our outdoor spa with massage jets and LED lights for that fun evening after all day at play. At Hunter Moon there is a full outdoor BBQ Kitchen under a large covered deck and a brand new awesome 12 person spa.
We have regular visits from Kangaroos and Wombats that live by the creek. You can fish for Carp or Bass. Or observe the bountiful birdlife that love to visit our home. There are also chickens, ducks and horse to see.
Cicada Country House and Hunter Moon offer luxury comfort and have wonderful views out to surrounding landscapes. Cicada large open plan layout with a generous open fireplace and large table setting arrangement to take in the views. Cicada Country House has four bedrooms and a library alcove. Hunter moon has a wood burning heater with large areas for your group get together. The large outdoor deck with bbq kitchen is a perfect way to relax with your group.

Tariff
WEEKEND RATES (2 nights) (Fri-Sun)
* The nightly weekend rate for Cicada up to 6 guests is $650 per night (2 night minimum - see 1 night rates below) and Hunter Moon is $850 for 8 guests.
* Both houses booked together require a minimum of $3000 and this is for 14 people.
* Extra adult guests are charged at $95 per person per night.
* Children are charge $60 per child (2years to 13 years).
* Infants under 2 are free.
* A third night stay is available at $95 per person per night (minimum of 2 guests staying on and excluding public holidays).
* Public Holidays are a 3 or 4 night minimum stay and are charged at the weekend rate
MID WEEK RATES - (2 nights) (Mon-Thurs)
* The nightly midweek rate for Cicada is up to 6 guests is $450 (Minimum two nights - see one night rates below) and for Hunter Moon for up to 8 guests is $600.
*Both houses booked together require a minimum of $2100 and this is for 14 people
* Extra adult guests are charged at $75 per person per night
* Children are charged $40 per child (2years to 13 years).
* Infants under 2 are free.

* The one night weekend rate is $1400 which covers up to 8 guests.
* Extra adult guests are charged at $95 per person per.

* The one night midweek rate is $1000 which covers up to 8 guests.
* Extra adult guests are charged at $95 per person

WEEKLY RATES AND LONGER STAYS

OTHER CHARGES
* A deposit of 50% of the total rate is required by credit card to secure the booking. A $300 holding deposit can hold the property for 14 days if you need to collect payment from other guests.
* The outstanding balance is due 14 days before your arrival date.
* A $500 security deposit is taken on 14 days before your arrival and is fully refundable if the house and their contents do not suffer damage or loss or require excess cleaning.
* Weekend Public Holiday bookings must be for a minimum of 6 or more guests and are 3 night stays only.
* Easter, Christmas and New Year are a 3-4 night stays
Where we are
Less than two hours from Sydney and 90 minutes from Newcastle the Broke Fordwich area is in the southwest corner of the mid Hunter Valley. Sitting between Pokolbin and Wollombi, Broke played a critical role in the development and history of NSW.
Next door to boutique vineyards and near the olive farms of Broke , 15-20 minutes to the heart or Pokolbin for the best wine tasting and restaurants in NSW and for the golf enthusiasts, two of the best and most challenging golf courses in Australia (the Vintage and Cypress Lakes). Near great Wedding Venues.
Broke Village stands at the base of the Brokenback and Hunter Ranges on the Wollombi Brook. The massive Yellow Rock escarpment stands guard above. The Ranges shelter Broke Fordwich from much of the rainfall that surrounding districts receive. The area has a sandy loam with river flat alluvial soil, volcanic soil and pockets of red basalt giving wine producers a variety of soil types known as terra rossa.
Today Broke Fordwich is still making history. In 1994 it was the first area formally recognised as a separate viticulture. Whilst historically, it is one of the oldest wine growing areas in Australia, it is only in the last 30 years that Broke Fordwich has started to become an important player in the Australian industry.
Today, more than a quarter of the Hunters wine grape production now comes from the area and Broke Fordwich wines are winning more than their fair share of national and international awards.
Importantly, Broke Fordwich retains its integrity as a rural community remaining free of large scale development yet offering first class B&B and self catering accommodation, restaurants and activities. Visitors to the area are surprised by the amount of wildlife they see.
