If you are looking to have a holiday stay at one of the most beautiful beaches in the south east of Tasmania, and one that is close to the airport and the attractions of Hobart itself, you are most welcome at The Carlton Beach Cottage.

Nestled at the base of the Carlton sand dunes, this original beach shack has recently been fully renovated and readied for a new lease of life. Our two bedroom beach cottage offers a chance to enjoy the surf culture that abounds here. Whether you para surf, jump waves on a jet ski or paddle your kayak, it all happens here regularly. Should you have a boat, we have room for off-street parking. Under cover storage of kyaks and surf skis also is available.

Winter or summer, you can enjoy the delights of a stroll onto the beach. You will be enchanted by the never ending change of mood and colour of this most loved beach.
Sightings of whales and dolphins in July are something to look out for and we have a cosy log fire to keep you warm just for those occasions.

We are conveniently located centrally on the long arc of what is Carlton Beach and Park Beach. Walk out our door and you will find a sandy beach track and you will be led onto the beach in a few moments. Turn east and you will see the famous Tasman Penninsular and the many surrounding islands and bays. Keep walking and you will explore the mouth of the Carlton River. Maybe next day you will turn west instead and walk towards Spectacle Head. Here you can fossick amongst the rock pools whilst witnessing the majesty of Mount Wellington in the background.

Make our cottage as your base to sightsee further afield. Old Richmond Town, Port Arthur or the East Coast. They are all within an easy day trip and you will have time to return and cool your tired feet in the surf.

Close by the local traders at the Dodges Ferry village will tend to most of your needs. They include a chemist, supermarket, news agency, post office, bakery, doctor and much more.

Nearby Attractions

The delights of the city of Hobart and all it's attractions are just a 35 minute cruise away. Stay at the Carlton Beach Cottage and enjoy the sea breeze instead of the traffic fumes.
Carlton is well serviced by the village shops and facilities at Dodges Ferry and is central to most of the well known attractions in the south of Tasmania. The Huon Valley, Mount Field National Park, Richmond, Freycinet National Park and the Tasmanian Penninsular are all easy day trips from your BeachCottage.

If you love adventure, Carlton Beach is well known for para and wind surfing. Kayaking is a regular sport as is scuba diving for lobsters at Whale Rock. Nearby boat ramps will allow you to get off to an early start on your fishing trip.
