Barrier Reef Trips

There are a wide range of operators taking day cruises to the Great Barrier Reef. Boats depart from Cairns or Port Douglas, and you can choose a day of sightseeing, snorkeling or scuba diving.

Daintree Rainforest

There are day trips to the Daintree Rainforest Wilderness, or you hire a car and make your own tour, adding in river cruises, croc spotting or enjoying the

local cusine. Or you can add in an overnight stay at Daintree village, Cape Tribulation, or make a round trip to Cooktown or the Atherton Tableland.

Kuranda Skyrail & Railway

The trip up to Kuranda on the tableland offers spectacular views over the rainforest and over the ocean towards the reef. You can travel either by the

skyrail cable car, or on the historic railway- or do it up one way and down the other. The trips leave from near the Tjakupai Aboriginal Cultural Centre

Tjakupai Aboriginal Cultural Park

Tjakupai Aboriginal Cultural Park offers an insight into the culture and customs of the Tjakupai people, and an opportunity to learn about and experience

their dance, bush foods, boomerang and spear throwing, a didgeridoo demonstration, and traditional fire lighting technique.

Hartley's Crocodile Farm

See the crocodiles in a very natural habitat, hear about their breeding programs and life cycle, watch them being fed by hand, and understand some of the characteristics and habits of these superbly adapted prehistoric predators.

Cairns Tropical Zoo

Accessible by bus or car close to the Cairns township, Cairns Tropical Zoo allows you to view some of the native wildlife, including koalas and kangaroos.

Golf in Tropical North Queensland

There are a number of quality courses in the Cairns and Palm Cove area, notably the outstanding Paradise Palms, and a 18 hotel course in Palm Cove itself.

There are also some highly ranked courses around Port Douglas, and another still in Mossman.

Cairns and Port Douglas offer an extensive range of adventure sports, including skydiving, bunge jumping, light aircraft and helicopter rides. There is a water skiing/wakeboarding facility, which offers a great opportunity to learn, or try a few new tricks, in a very controlled environment.
