Balmain: Only 15 minutes from the CBD, Balmain is located on a peninsular. It has a large selection of shops, restaurants, pubs, bakeries and cafes. The Cottage is only a five minutes stroll to the centre of the village. Enjoy a 15 minute ferry trip to Circular Quay or a bus ride into the city from the end of our street. Balmain has an interesting history which is reflected in its different styles of architecture. Wander the narrow streets and enjoy the sights of historic buildings and spectacular views of the Harbour Bridge.

The Balmain markets are held on Saturdays at St Andrews Congregational Church which is just around the corner from your Cottage. The Rozelle Markets held on Saturdays and Sundays are more of a flea market. Just in case you want a different kind of market, Sydney's latest Growers Market in Lilyfield, is another great experience.

Your accommodation is a comfortable cottage, built in 1865. You could sit on the verandah with a glass of wine and enjoy the tree-lined street or relax in the lounge and enjoy the features such as polished timber floorboards, sandstone fireplace and iron-pressed ceiling. The bedroom is cosy and warm with an en-suite bathroom. It has a double bed, night tables, a clothes stand, shelved module and a wardrobe.

A cleaning fee of $70 will apply for bookings of less than one week.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely little cottage. After just a couple of days we already felt at home .The location was perfect for us and yet still a very quiet street and being able to park right outside was a plus. The cottage was warm, comfortable and very cosy.A trip on the ferry to Darling Harbour and the wonderful restaurants in walking distance helped make our stay a very special one.Thank you to Mike and Suzanne."

  • "This is a really sweet little place to stay. Its an original mining cottage, very comfortable and in a lovely quiet street just a few minutes from the centre of Balmain. It felt like home. Thanks to Mike and Susanne for making us so welcome, we will definitely come and stay again."

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Balmain Cottage. It was so handy for public transport to access all the best places that Sydney has to offer. The cottage had everything we needed and is in a quiet neighbourhood but just a short walk to the many shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs that Balmain is well-known for. Highly recommended and we're looking forward to staying there again on our next visit to Sydney."

  • "The cottage was excellent! My sister and I loved our stay and the location can't be beat. Only a short ferry or bus trip to downtown Sydney, but set in a great little village. The cottage is convenient to everything -- great coffee, good restaurants, shopping, parks. The home itself is cozy and the owners have filled it with all of the possible necessities that travelers may have forgotten. The kitchen is not full-size, but it has all of the basics and it's very easy to enjoy simple meals there. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and were well taken care of by our hosts. Highly recommended!"

  • "We found this little cottage to be a great little haven to retreat to. Although small, it has all that you need for a comfortable stay. Within walking distance of the fabulous restaurants & shops of balmain, a walk to the ferry, which we caught to the zoo & access to buses into the city. We would stay again when visiting sydney as it is great value & has much more atmosphere than staying in a hotel in the city. "

  • "The cottage was lovely, very handy to public transport, coffee shops and restaurants. It was particularly great for us as our son lives just around the corner and we were there to visit him. If the cottage lacked anything it would have be handy to have a hair dryer and a fan as it was quite hot. Overall very good and we would stay there again. The Gregorys were very nice and helpful."
