Warm and inviting, easy to live in the residence has three bedrooms of generous proportions (sleeps six), lounge, dining, fully equipped galley kitchen, bathroom with shower over bath, separate laundry and lovely outside entertaining area with gas barbecue.
This property will suit visiting professionals and corporate clients, contract workers, holidaying families and those relocating to Perth - your home away from home!
The house is often also used often as a base for wedding party guests.
The Artists' Residence is so named as its furnishings are a combination of individually designed and recycled, remodeled pieces and lots of local artists’ original works line the walls of this property.
Fixed wall fans, evaporative cooler and portable refrigerated airconditioning, gas heating and open fires ensure a comfortable temperature all year around.
Each of the three bedrooms has a queen sized bed and built in wardrobing. Two additional single beds and can be made available for extra guests. All bedding and linen is provided.
When you stay at the Artists' Residence, you are welcome to make free local telephone calls and use the internet - wifi is provided free of charge.
Built in 1887 and refurbished in late 2009, the Artists' Residence has retained its heritage charm with high ceilings and wide polished floorboards, heavy wooden doors and sash windows.
The kitchen has a stove befitting a chef – from a restaurant in Perth in the 1960’s it has been completely restored: it is stainless steel and large with four gas burners and a big gas oven; a microwave, dishwasher, refrigerator and mandatory coffee machine complete the kitchen which is fully equipped with pots and pans, utensils, cutlery and crockery, glassware and tea towels.
Terracotta tiled floors, gorgeous stone benchtops and big drawers that glide open and closed make this a very easy space for preparation of meals.
Dining for six is at a round, wooden table with carved base. You can also sit here with a garden view and access your emails. Free WiFi and local telephone calls are included.
A stone vanity with a porcelain bowl sink features in the bathroom which also has a shower over full sized deep bath and is powered by instant gas hot water.
Fluffy bath towels and bath mats are provided as are beach towels and a beach umbrella.
The laundry is a separate room, with washing machine and dryer. Six long, roll away drying lines allow plenty of space for drying in the Perth sunshine.
Fremantle is lovely any time of year - Enjoy Summer in our cool limestone terrace!
Sunday: Take the free CAT bus for its entire route around Fremantle. Then stop at Fishing Boat Harbour for a seafood meal at one of the excellent Fresh Fish outlets there.
Monday: Fremantle Prison situated on six hectares overlooking the port city. It was built by convict labour in the 1850s and decommissioned as an operating gaol in 1991. Explore the one kilometre labyrinth of tunnels underneath the Prison on the Tunnels Tour. Go back at night time for a ghostly night time tour!
Tuesday: Take a creative writing class, see some live music or just enjoy the gallery at the Fremantle Arts Centre. The Arts Centre has in itself a rich history that is well worth discovering.
Wednesday: Visit the spectacular new WA Maritime Museum, it juts out over the water and has an amazing architectual design allowing the visitor to feel like they are in a ship on the sea - the old Maritime Museum located close by holds Fremantle's wartime maritime history and is also well worth a visit.
