I liked it
It's so rare to come upon a place where you think that everything is just how it should be, but with The Potager that's exactly how it is. There's a feeling that you might be in the south of France, the detail so casually right without being overstated. My sense is that everything has been considered with care and love. It's hard to put it in words without risking sounding somewhat overblown, and also I fear that by revealing the secret of such a wondrous place, it may invite people who are seeking another version of anywhere, when this place is so special.
We came to The Potager in need of somewhere easy to stay for an ailing companion and found our own version of paradise. The garden, the swimming pool, the house - everything, had a magic to it, a kind of ramshackle beauty that made me believe in miracles, and indeed our ailing friend recovered.
The Potager deserves to be at the top of best-places-to-stay lists, and aside from this, Chewton is a cute, old-fashioned town with a terrific coffee shop/restaurant, nursery and weekend market. What else could anyone want?

What a find! We arrived to find the key in the door and inside soft classical music playing and not just one but two fires blazing and a further two set.On further inspection, we found beautifully made comfortable beds, a wonderful library, vases of flowers everywhere and a very well equipped kitchen which we relished putting to use with local produce sourced from the market.Every room had a beautiful view of Autumn trees and sky and a full moon on Saturday night. We had a wonderfully relaxing weekend and have already planned a return visit.

The Potager is a gorgeous stone cottage wiht a lovely swimming pool and garden set in a serene country setting. We had a wonderful weekend enjoying the lovely surroundings, freshly picked apples from the orchard and great hospitality. The cottage is very well equipped and comfortable with luxurious touches such as the extra-fine Eqyptian cotton sheets on the beds. We will definately be going back sometime soon.

My second visit to The Potager was just as good as the first! A warm welcome from Jane, fresh bread, milk and all the basics ready and waiting as well as the fire laid ready to light! First time around in mid-summer we enjoyed the magnificent pool and dining outside on the stone-flagged terrace. This time round we were rugged up, wet weather gear required and both times were so lovely and relaxed. A perfect spot to relax, read the papers or a good book and enjoy the company of friends. The added bonus is the short travel time from Melbourne (1 1/4 hours) and so much to do nearby. Can't wait for another weekend break!
