Description

Nestled high in a canopy of gum trees with stunning valley views, this two bedroom, open plan log cabin is close to town as well as the golf course and backs on to the National Park and the famous "Braeside Walk" which follows the Braeside Creek to Bridal Veil Falls and Govetts Leap.

Ideal for that romantic getaway, Braeside Retreat also sleeps up to six (One queen, one single, two bunks and a double sofa bed).

Combining rustic simplicity with comfort and affordability and located in natural beauty, Braeside Retreat is your ideal Mountain getaway.

Slow Down and Live!

Two hours by car or train from Sydney CBD, Braeside Retreat is a place to slow down and live. Life goes much slower in Blackheath, and good old fashioned hospitality still exists here!

On arrival, you will be greeted with a basket of nibbles and a glass of wine to refresh you after your journey as well as a continental breakfast so you don't have to worry about the morning. Take a walk through the quiet streets to town to stretch your legs or unwind by sitting on the veranda or by the lounge room window and admire the valley view.

A five minute drive takes you to Govetts Leap Lookout with its various bushwalks, and a fifteen minute drive takes you to Katoomba and Scenic World.

Blackheath also boasts a popular golf course for the golfer- a three minute drive or 20 minute walk from Braeside Retreat.
Various Blackheath cafe's, pubs, restaurants, bakeries and shops are also an easy walk from Braeside Retreat.

Experience the Seasons Again

Braeside Retreat in Blackheath lets you experience the seasons in a way that city life does not.

In Summer, warm days and cool nights let you enjoy the sights, fragrances and sounds of the native bush in comfort. Summer is the season when you will most often see the beautiful mists fill the valleys in the mornings and evenings. At the end of Summer, the Blue Mountains Music Festival brings musicians from around Australia and the world to Katoomba for a celebration of Folk, Roots and Blues.

In Autumn, the trees in town burst into beautiful colours, and you walk through a crunchy carpet of leaves through Blackheath's streets. The days are milder and the nights are cool to cold. Its a very romantic time of year.

In Winter, the cosiness of Braeside Retreat comes into its best. Yes, it snows in Blackheath! On average, we get about two or three falls a year that settle, with flurries and sleet a common occurrence in Winter. Be sure to pack some warm clothes! Sit by the fire with a hot chocolate or some mulled wine- baby it's cold outside! On the Winter Solstice in June, the Blue Mountains celebrates the Winter Magic Festival with a parade, stalls and a night of music in Katoomba. Braeside Retreat is the ideal spot to celebrate Yulefest or Christmas in July!

In Spring, gardens and trees burst into colourful blossom to herald the end of Winter. In November, Blackheath celebrates the Rhododendron Festival in early November- be sure to stroll through the Rhododendron Gardens!

  • "A group of six of us stayed here on a climbing trip for a few weeks and loved it! Great homely cabin with a well equiped kitchen and a great location. The owners were lovely and easy going and even did some laundry for us! The selection of games kept us entertained on those rainy rest days and we found most things that we required for a long stay were included in the price! Thankyou!"

  • "Fantastic cabin! Great place for a family get-away loads of lovely extra touches. delicious welcome basket, great music/movies, kids toy, these all made our stay a real treat. This might sound funny to some but the amount of different pots, glasses, coffee plunger etc was a welcome change from the normal 4 cups in the cupboard you normally find! Always important to have a nice glass for your wine! We will be back Cheers Di "

  • "We were looking for a short winter break from the grind of city life and Braeside Retreat was the perfect solution. The cabin itself was comfortable and welcoming, with everything we needed for an enjoyable stay. The fireplace was great and the peaceful bush setting, a real treat. The wonderful restaurants, galleries and antique stores in Blackheath added to our enjoyment. And oh, of course, the bushwalks were sublime. Highly recommended."

  • "What a wonderful surprise. This accommodation was so comfortable and friendly - so much so that,on a bitterly cold evening, we were perfectly happy to simply sit and gaze at the log fire in a state of total contentment. The help and kindness shown by the owner when there was a power failure next morning only added to the feeling that they really do care about their clients comfort. Arthur J, Mosman"
