Acacia Apartments in the main town, Kingscote, on Kangaroo Island is a fantastic place to stay. These ground floor units are spacious, fully equipped and spotlessly clean.
Acacia is a 4.5 star property, and beautifully presented. There are pretty gardens, so you can sit on your veranda to enjoy a cuppa and the morning paper, or to watch honey eaters, wrens and other small native birds.
And there are mobile BBQs so you can cook up a storm on the lawn right outside your apartment.
There are ten apartments; one or two bedroom, with comfy furniture. The one bedroom apartments all have spa baths. These brick apartments have reverse cycle air conditioning and are quiet and comfortable.
Each day enjoy the peace and facilities at Acacia. Cook a meal at home, stroll to restaurants or the pub for dinner, or have pizza delivered to your door. We can provide transport the 800-900 metres to the restaurant if you'd like.
There is internet access, and a good selection of books, games and DVDs, and a great pool table.
The swimming pool is indoors and deliciously warm, and the pool house sports a wonderful spa pool too: the perfect place to relax at the end of a satisfying day's sightseeing. And you can hire fishing gear. Try your hand fishing off the nearby jetty.
In this very central town, Kingscote, you will be close to all town services, including medical facilities, hotels, a supermarket, and shops.You may enjoy coffee in one of the charming cafes in Kingscote, taste honey at Island Beehive (they have great scones with honey or jam and cream) or sample a nice wine at Shoal Bay Winery.
Down town, there are art galleries, and restaurants featuring fresh produce, like King George Whiting, oysters, or sheep cheeses from KI Sheep Dairy.
The settlement museum is impressive, too!

It's a short wall to Reeves Point with little bay beaches crowded with sea birds and tiny shells; and there is a rich heritage area to explore as well. Just a few minutes' walk in the other direction takes you to the wharf precinct, where there is fishing, penguin tours and pelican feeding, or to board the Kangaroo Island Marine Tours boat, which will take you to watch or to swim with dolphins.
Within 10 minutes drive from Acacia, you may discover a wide array of wildlife including kangaroos and wallabies, goannas, and birds:even an Osprey which nests a kilometre from Acacia Apartments.
Within less than an hour's drive, you may explore Australia's best beach at Vivonne Bay(&quad bikes and kayaks), Sea Lions at Seal Bay, or explore Parndana Wildlife park, Snelling's Beach, Stokes Bay, Pennington Bay, historic Penneshaw, Lathami Park or the long, white Emu Bay Beach (and fishing charters). On the way, watch out for echidna, koala, birds,and more of the rich biodiversity of Kangaroo Island.

A day trip to the west end is a lovely option.
Flinders Chase is an historic National Park, and a place of great natural beauty and biodiversity. There you will discover Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch (and thousands of New Zealand Fur Seals), picturesque West Bay, and Platypus walks.
There are hike trails, picnic areas and historic sites to explore, such as Weirs Cove, close to DeCoudic Lighthouse.
Close by, Kelly Hill Caves (fantastic limestone caves) and Hanson Bay Koala walk are affordable and satisfying places to visit. At Hanson, you will find not only koalas in the wild, but also wallabies and kangaroos, echidna (often)and many birds including parrots, honey eaters, Cape Barren Geese, Ibis, Wattle Birds, magpies and many more. There is so much to see and so much to do on Kangaroo Island.
The wildflowers in Spring are lovely too.
