There are often free tours on the island. Go on the bird watching tour, a Quokka tour, a Gun tour etc. Rottnest was used as a prison and the army took it over during the war.
If you prefer just enjoy the fabulous swimming bays and finish off with an icy cold beer at the pub before returning to Freo for your choice of Resturants and cafes. A romantic stroll back home along the river, or a 5 minute taxi cab will get you home, if you dont feek like catching the bus. I LOVE ROTTNEST HOWEVER FREMANTLE MUST BE EXPLORED AS WELL!
