My husband and I fell in love with Gorge Cottage at first sight. Her original features and warmth charmed us. The location was perfect - close to the magnificent Cataract gorge and overlooking the Tamar River and Launceston. The popular Trevallyn Grocer and Cafe is only a few doors down, where an array of gourmet products is on offer and you can also enjoy a delicious breakfast or lunch. (There is also a post office, newsagent, doctor's surgery and bakery)
It has been a real joy renovating her, all the potential was there. Her Art Deco leadlight windows and doors, Baltic floors and fireplaces provided a great foundation to work with. Our objective was to create a warm, comfortable and aesthetically beautiful environment which would invite our guests to relax and have a memorable stay.
Gorge Cottage has three bedrooms and sleeps up to 7 with plenty of living space and would be perfect for honeymooners, couples, group of friends or families. The house is warm and welcoming and makes a great base for exploring the surrounding areas.
The configuration of the house starts with a lovely enclosed veranda where you can sit and enjoy your morning cuppa whilst watching the mist over the river with the stunning background of the hills beyond. In the evening the scenery is transformed into a sparkling christmas tree of lights. The lounge with its electric flame heater is so cosy and romantic, it invites you to curl up on the couch and the family room is beautifully set up to watch the T.V., listen to music or just relax with a glass of local red. We have available a great range of CD's and DVD's for your enjoyment.
The dining room has a large table, perfect for gathering around and next to the large gourmet kitchen, which is fitted with stainless steel appliances including full size SS Fridge and everything you need to cook up a storm.
The first and second bedrooms have queen size beds and fireplaces and the third bedroom has a double and single bed. There are cupboards in all the bedrooms. Quality linen and Egyptian cotton towels are provided for your enjoyment and comfort. The study has a computer desk and great vista. The bathroom is well appointed with a spa bath to relax in. There is also a separate powder room and the laundry is fully equipped.
The large back yard is delightful with a big deck overlooking the various trees, including a large lemon tree, which you are welcome to help yourself to. There is a great outdoor setting and a BBQ for your convenience.

Day Trips
Explore the Tamar Valley, renowned for its glorious scenery and welcoming wineries, then drive on to Beauty Point.
If you love hiking, pack your lunch and head to Narawntapu National park and explore the many walking tracks.
Head to the Deloraine, enjoy a walk along the river and a browse around the town. Head on to Mole Creek. The drive is so scenic, don't forget your camera. Stop for a delicious homemade ice-cream at the honey shop, and then explore the many caves and magnificent waterfalls in the area.
Walk to Cataract Gorge and enjoy its magnificent natural beauty and stunning views of its majestic dolerite cliffs, take an exhilarating ride on the longest single chairlift span in the world, hike on to Duck Reach. After enjoying lunch at the cafe, stroll down to Launceston and spend the afternoon exploring the many historical sites such as Boag's Brewery, Ritchies Mill, Franklin House, the Queen Victoria Museum and the many beautiful Parks. You might like to enjoy dinner at one of the many fine restaurants on offer before heading back.
