From Airport to North Bondi by Taxi
Will cost around $25-35 and about 30min. Go via Old South Head Road then Blair Street then the North Bondi bus terminus (It's the back way to Bondi)
From Airport to North Bondi by Bus
Cost about $5 and 90min, it's a drag but cheap. Get the 400 bus to Bondi Junction. Get the 333, 380 or L82. Tell the driver you want to get off at the North Bondi bus terminus. DONT GET OFF AS SOON AS YOU SEE THE BEACH. Wait til the last stop or ask the driver.
From Airport to North Bondi by Train
Cost around $15 and 1hr. Buy a red weekly at the train station $33 or combined rail/bus ticket to Bondi Beach. As the Airport train station is privately owned you'll have to buy a gate pass $11 one way or $17 for 1 week return. Annoying plus!! Get off at Central and ask for the Eastern Suburbs train on platform 24. You'll need to ask for directions. Get off at Bondi Junction then get the 380, 333 or L82 and ask to get dropped off at the last stop at the North Bondi bus terminus.
Unfortunately Ozstays in their wisdom has removed any website listings so you'll have to Google them yourself or email me for further details.

Parking, council issues
Google Waverley Council
Waverley council has now taken over the policing of parking offences. The council rangers give no mercy and huge revenues are raised from parking fines. Don't stop in a No Stopping zone for a second as fines can be issued by camera without you knowing and range from $77-$300+.

Terrorism and Sydney
Although there's not been a terrorist attack in Sydney the underground rail network is littered with cameras, one way mirrors and police. Avoid travelling underground or the city circle during peak hours.
Always swim between the flags. Leave the sharks and stingrays alone. Watch for directions from life guards and signs on the beach regarding dangerous currents and preferred swimming areas. Stay away from the edges of the beach where there are permanent rips. Alway swim towards the centre of the beach to get out of rip. If you start getting swept out you won't go far. Don't panic. Wave your arm.
All Australian children have to learn to swim at school. Most people on the beach have spent their lives near the ocean and are quite familiar with the surf. The majority of surf rescues are swimmers unfamiliar with the surf, frequently from overseas or inland areas and get into trouble less than 15m from the shore. Swim with the crowds. Less chance of getting eaten by sharks than if you swim by yourself.
Whatever you do don't panic and wear yourself out. Just hold your breath and you'll float without moving. Wave your hand above your head.
Use sunscreen religiously and stay out of the sun between 11 and 3pm. Be aware of floating jellyfish with long blue stingers on the beach. They hurt and wash up on the beach. Be aware of blue ringed octopus found in rock pools, they are deadly.
