Adventure Bay is on the eastern side of Bruny Island and offers some spectacular scenery. Parnella Adventure Bay is a few minutes walk from the beach and is a two storey cottage with the bedrooms on the first floor. The living room, dining area and kitchen are on the ground floor along with the bathroom, spa room and separate loo. The cottage is fully equipped with most of the things that make a special holiday that little bit more special.
The cottage is perfectly suited as a honeymoon getaway or somewhere to celebrate the important moments in your relationship such as a wedding anniversary.
Parnella Adventure Bay makes the perfect holiday getaway for young families keen to take a break away from city life and allow their children to experience what life used to be like.
Many people ask us what there is to do on Bruny and we're very pleased to answer "not much"! We like to relax but if you want to have a more active holiday there are several amazing bushwalks on the island, a fantastic eco boat cruise, Australia's southernmost vineyard (with pretty good wines), terrific fishing and diving opportunities, some really amazing surfing, an excellent cheesemaker, a first rate providor and smokehouse, highly regarded oyster farm, lovely beaches, quiet bays and, of course, prolific wildlife.
We are also excited to announce that we are opening a sister property in Kettering which will offer a delightfully secluded garden cottage for singles or couples. Complete with hot tub, the Kettering property is only a few minutes drive to the Bruny Island Ferry Terminal and will offer a comfortable and convenient base from which to explore the D'Entrecasteaux Channel region and Bruny. We are hoping we will be open for business in early to mid December 2012. We will be offering package deals as well as special offers so please contact us for more information about Parnella Kettering.
Special things about Bruny and places we like to go
If you've never been to Bruny Island before you are in for a treat. However, don't be tempted to think that you can see and enjoy everything this special part of Tasmania has to offer in a day or even two. Bruny is best savoured slowly ... dawn walks in the bush surrounded by a symphony of song. Dusk on a lonely beach. Exploring sheltered coves and just absolutely indulging yourself in the tranquility this island has to offer.
It's not all about relaxing. Adventure Bay and Cloudy Bay both offer fantastic surfing opportunities in the right conditions. Bruny also has some great locations for kayaking and mountain bike riding. Bring your boat and enjoy some of the best fishing in Tassie. There's over 300kms of roads on Bruny and some of them are 4WD only. Forestry Tasmania has several roads that run over the highlands in the south and are definitely worth traversing. Spectacular views towards Cloudy Bay are breathtaking on a clear dawn in Summer.
We discovered Bruny 25 years ago and, even all these years later, every time we disembark from the ferry at the terminal on the island we are immediately filled with a sense of peace and excitement. Even a weekend here leaves us feeling ready to face city life once more.
Bruny does have a tragic past and you may find places on the island where there is a deep sense of sadness. We acknowledge the traditional custodians of this place and we try to walk and live here respecting their heritage and their passing.
Favourite things for us to do include evening walks on the beach at Two Tree Point, summer picnics at Cloudy Bay beach, reading the newspapers over a leisurely Sunday morning breakfast in the garden at Parnella.
Absolute essentials to bring include your camera and a pair of binoculars, good walking shoes, a warm jacket and a sense of adventure. Bruny has a lot to offer and adventure rewards the prepared.
Wherever you go on Bruny no matter what the time or the weather always carry a camera. It's hard to take bad pictures here and all too often we've experienced turning a corner to be presented with a breathtaking moment only to realise we left our camera at home.
If you're not into photography carry a sketchbook or even a notepad and pencil to capture the special moments you're bound to experience here.
Bruny is also rich with a culture of art. There is a wide range of artists living and working on the island. Try to seek them out - you're bound to find work that strikes a resonance with you.

We have such a wonderful time. It is a lovely place to stay. We also wish to thank Jonathan for his wonderful help when our car broke down on the island. We will certainly recommend this place to everyone, just terrific.

High holiday atmosphere in island. Unexpectedly good house, very clean with premium quality hardware. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely time despite the terrible weather. Constant hail storms and rain. At one point the main road in Adventure Bay looked like it was covered in "snow"! We very much appreciated the little touches like the toys and the boys pillows etc in our 3 year old's room … made him feel really at home. Will definitely recommend to others. Thanks.

PS … your lovely garden was perfect for an Easter egg hunt!
We love this island!!! Many hours spent at the beaches. The isthmus is beautiful. The local produce is simply delicious. Cheese (yum), oysters (more please), and our children loved the smoked salmon. One cannot leave without mentioning this lovely house. Our family was very much at home here. Thank you Sue and Jonathan.
