Description

A delightful stone and timber cottage craftsman-built in 1992 and nestled in coastal mallee 200m from the beach. After a hard days touring or fishing sit on the secluded deck and watch the birds, feed the possums and wallabies that come most nights, or just relax with a glass of Island wine.

It is a small cottage, tastefully decorated, with a cosy feel, and full of charm and character. It makes an ideal romantic getaway for two people, but is also most suitable for families and groups up to four people.

Guests describe it as romantic, cosy, peaceful, a home away from home, spotlessly clean, had everything we needed.

Please note: You book the whole cottage exclusively, not just a room.

The cottage is situated on the south coast of Kangaroo Island, in the Vivonne Bay township, only a two minute walk to the beach. The pristine beach is ideal for fishing, surfing, or beach-walking. Look for Leafy Sea Dragons as you go, and watch for whales, dolphins and seals.

It is situated central to the island's major natural attractions including Seal Bay, Kelly Hill caves, and Flinders Chase National Park with the fabulous Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch.

In fact almost all attractions on the island are within an hour's drive. A good central location.

The cottage has an open plan L-shaped lounge-kitchen-dining area, and separate bathroom. Due to reliance on rainwater, there is no laundry. It is fully equipped, and all bedding and linen is supplied.

There is a reverse-cycle air conditioner and fan for heating and cooling, and a private secluded deck with BBQ and outdoor setting.

A small TV & DVD player (no TV reception), and a cot and highchair can be set up on request. There is a limited selection of DVDs and CDs, and a range of games, magazines and books for evening entertainment. Bird book for identifying the birds in the birdbath.

There is a general store nearby for fuel, meals and supplies.
Enjoy kayaking, surfing, beach, jetty and river fishing, fun golf, wildlife tours, all within a couple of minutes from the cottage.

Remember to visit the new Birds of Prey attraction - best value for money on the island!! On daily at around 11am.

Visit the local winery and marron farm. Stop for lunch at their new cafe.

There is an abundance of native orchids and wild flowers in spring, including several orchid species on the cottage grounds.

Cook your own fresh crayfish in season or catch and cook your own marron (nets, cooking pots and instructions supplied on request)

A selection of tour outlines, including times, costs, places to eat etc, available when booking, or at the cottage.

We supply some special treats for honeymooners and anniversary celebrations, or if you want to have a surprise, like a nice freshly cooked crayfish (in season), waiting for your partner. Let us know!

Other Details

All properties at Vivonne Bay rely on rain water. Please use sparingly during your stay. Consequently no laundry facilities available.

The cottage has steep stairs to the loft, not suitable for the infirm. Stair barriers are available for young children. Please ask when booking.
