The picturesque town of Bangalow is the perfect place to while away a lazy day or two. Savour a coffee at one of the cafes or restaurants, discover new gourmet treats, Persian carpets, treasures from Tibet, Japanese silk kimonos or Chinese antiques. See the old-fashioned hardware store, visit the local art gallery or stroll down to the river and have a cup of tea and home made scones at Heritage House (where the locals go).
Bangalow's charm is in its historic buildings, shady tree lined streets and community spirit (and without a chain store in sight!).
Every Saturday morning between 7 and 11am is the Farmers Markets where you can purchase local organic produce and the Art and Craft Market is held on the 4th Sunday of each month.
During the year many events and festivals are held including the Billy Cart Derby (May), Starlight Wellbeing Expo (January and April), the Big Joke Festival, many Music Festivals (jazz, classical), Art Festivals and the Bangalow Show (November).
And only a short drive to Byron Bay . . .
Less than 15 minutes and you are in the heart of world famous Byron Bay where you can enjoy fabulous shopping, sumptuous restaurant meals and surf at Wategos beach or The Pass. Tallows and Broken Head are also great for surfing and fishing and make sure you visit the lighthouse and take in the breathtaking views. And play a round at the Byron Bay Golf Club or enjoy a meal and live music on the deck each Sunday afternoon. Markets are on the 1st Sunday of each month.
