Escape to Tree Top Retreat - a bright, airy, self contained, studio apartment in the large garden of our Avalon family home.
Perfect for individuals or couples who want to discover some of Australia's best beaches, bush walks, cafes and restaurants - it's an easy walk to all.
A perfect, quick getaway for busy city people who want to trade stress and deadlines for tranquility, trees, bird calls and beaches - but only 50 minutes drive from the bustling centre of cosmopolitan Sydney city. It really is the best of all worlds.
The studio is bright and light with polished floors, high ceilings, an overhead fan and bi folding windows which open right up so you can sit back and dream, gazing into the tree tops.
You'll feel like a child in a luxury tree house with a birds eye view of king parrots, kookaburras, galahs, cockatoos, lorikeets and the many other birds that visit us.
The bed is a luxurious, double sofa bed (not one of those cheap ones that do your back in!) with luscious white linen and big fluffy towels.
There is a small, fully equiped kitchenette in the corner of the studio with double burner, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. Tea and coffee are supplied. (And delicious, free range eggs when our chickens are on the lay!)
Eat inside listening to a CD, or head outside to your own little deck, complete with BBQ, candles and outdoor setting.
It is a lovely 3 minute stroll to North Avalon Shops which boast a fabulous cafe (great coffee and fabulous food!), surf shop, mini mart and bottle shop. Then continue on to stunning Avalon Beach (10 min walk) - a fully patrolled, safe family beach with a wonderful rock pool. (Or grab the complimentary bikes and zip down there even faster!)
If your feeling energetic grab a game of tennis on one of five courts at the Careel Bay tennis club - a 30 second walk through the bush track behind our property.
Or if sport isn't your thing and you just want to indulge yourself head for one of the fabulous Avalon/Palm Beach restaurants, get a facial or a massage at one of the excellent beauty salons or wander around the wonderful gift, clothing and homeware shops.
Things to do in Beautiful Pittwater.
Pittwater is the Northern peninsula of Sydney's Northern Beaches, about 45 minutes from the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It's a narrow strip of land with peaceful bays on one side (Clareville, Taylor's Point) and surf beaches on the other; Avalon, Bilgola, Whale and Palm beaches - all stunning golden sand beaches with sea pools.
A short ferry ride will take you over to The Basin which is a picturesque swimming lagoon in National Park bushland where you'll always see wallabies and native parrots as well as other wildlife. There are wonderful bush walks there too.
Avalon Village is about 10 minutes walk. There's a supermarket, excellent bookshop, gift shops, a French patisserie and lots of great cafes that serve good food.
We have many restaurants in the area, including the internationally famous Jonahs and Barrenjoey House but also many good brasseries and take-aways. We have a gourmet pizza restaurant and a delicious noodle house a few minutes walk away.
Whale watching tours, scuba diving and sea plane joy flights are all close by. You can also hire a "tinnie" boat at Palm Beach and head out onto the beautiful beaches and bays of Pittwater.
If you want to take a bus it's a quick 1 minute walk to the bus stop through a lovely bush track.
