Description

For groups only (small or large), exclusive use of the property.

The historic 1927 Guesthouse from the paddlesteamer era (the last Guesthouse built in Queenscliff) has been restored specifically for the use of family/friends, work or any other group.

This unique property offers the space and freedom for small intimate groups of 10 or more (to larger groups of up to 75 people), to enjoy each others company, and to explore the special fishing township of Queenscliff.

Whitehall is nestled in the heart of the town at 11 Learmonth Street (it is in a very quiet location with water views on an acre of land). Only a few minutes walk to the main street, the beaches and piers, the steam train.

Ideal accommodation for the Blues Train events as it is located just up the road from the train station.

Bring your own food, and relax in a very special way (terrific fresh produce is available locally or on request we can arrange catering. Local restaurants are close and plentiful).

A large commercial dishwasher and kitchen makes the experience very easy and light work!, even for a large group.

The accommodation

The Guesthouse sleeps up to 75 people in 23 double bedrooms - all with queen-size beds - and 9 other bedrooms with a total of 20 single beds and 2 double bunk beds. Guests share 9 bathrooms, including 8 with showers and one with a bath.

We often have smaller family/friend groups, and they love the homely feel and personal space Whitehall gives. So if you are a small group - or a larger group, this is a great place to stay.

Children love the space and freedom it gives, inside and out, and the excitement of arriving is huge!

It is toddler friendly (under supervision!) with stair gates etc. Pets are considered at the discretion of the booking agent.

Plenty of doonas and blankets are supplied, but guests need to bring their own bed linen and towels (or we can supply them for an extra charge of $10 per person).

Please note we have many happy celebrations such as birthdays and anniversaries, but we are not a loud party venue due to our location within a residential area and noise restrictions apply. Definately no Hens Party or Bucks nights!

Guests' comments

We have had lots of friends and extended families stay, and the response has been terrific:

Thanks for a brilliant weekend. We had an absolute ball and everyone commented on what an amazing place Whitehall is. It certainly set the scene for our 1920's murder which was great fun. I imagine you are going to see some repeat business from a number of people in our group.

"I just wanted to say thanks for a great weekend, the house was fantastic, and the space was phenomenal! Everyone has been going on about it all day! I'm sure we will be doing it again, hopefully in the same place in a few months time!"

"We had an amazing stay at Whitehall and I had a very memorable 40th. We are interested in another group booking and will get back in contact with you in the next few weeks with a solid date"

"Great walks, fishing and beaches a short walk away - very hard to find a place like this!"

"We had a great time staying at WhiteHall, Thanks. I'm sure I'll be in touch soon to organise another weekend away, we are talking about it already!"."

"Thank you for a good weekend, we will be looking to book again next year."

Guest Reviews

  • "Fantastic venue - we had our joint 40th birthday here with 30 close friends and had a fantastic time - great location, perfect venue and facilities. Will definitely be back."
    Alison, April 2009

  • "Best place to have a great relaxing week end with a group of friends"
    Francoise, February 2009

  • "Had a great weekend in a space large enough for individuals to find some peace and quiet. We enjoyed our "Schoolies for parents" that we have booked again for 2009. Mike Cook"
    Michael, July 2008

  • "Our group of managers stayed at this property as a team building exercise and loved it. We have stayed at many 5 star venues in the past however found that staying at Whitehall had a unique spin on team and many have commented on how well they were able to bond as a team by staying at this property. Highly recommended to any large group. "
    Jodie, June 2008

  • "Bernie was quite pleasant to speak to and gave us free run of the accomadation. Even though still under repair was exactly what a large group as ourselves were after, right in the middle of town. Walking distance to all restuarants and Pubs was handy. Very quiet area and plenty of living space for our group of 50. Will definately return again next year !! Queenscliff is an ideal getaway."
    Glenn, May 2008

  • "Well, what all we can say is it was a wonderful experience. We chose this property for a 50th birthday over a weekend. We had friends and relatives from all over. It was an absolutely ideal way to get everyone together for an extended stay and provided the opportunity to catch up with everyone rather than a fleeting meeting in a one night event. We love to cook and catering was a breeze. We havent heard anything other than praise. We look forward to the next time."
    Donna, April 2008

  • "Great venue for a big crowd - ample room and great location. Everyone loved it and are very keen to do it again next New Year."
    Damian, February 2008

  • "Th whitehall Guesthouse was exactly what we were looking for : A family house, where everybody was feeling at home and enjoyig a excellent birthday party week end at the same time."
    francoise, January 2008

  • "Whitehall Guest House provided us with an incredible weekend getaway. It was the perfect setting for the group, we played beach cricket, explored the shops (such a convenient distance to the main street) had a great dinner party and lots of deep discussions on the balcony. Even 3 months after the weekend people are still talking about it!"

  • "We had a wonderful weekend at Whitehall for my mother's 80th birthday - six familes under the one (very large)roof! There was plenty of space -it was clean and comfortable with a lovely feel of history about it. At one stage we had a group playing table tennis, a group playing cards and a crowd having a sing-a-long all in the one room. And of course it was a huge plus being in Queenscliff which is one of the prettiest towns in Victoria. We definitely plan to go back and we won't wait till Mum turns 90!"
