Oban House was built in the mid 1860's by John Stevens, builder of Christ Church Beechworth, the elegant Albury Railway Station and the pavilion at Randwick Racecourse. In those days Finch Street was a busy commercial street and the house was the residence for the bakeshouse next door (now a private home).
Guests can leave their car in the carport and walk the short distance to the town centre to enjoy the various shops,galleries restaurants and cafes,the nearby historic precinct and other attractions.
The cottage was renovated in the early 1990's and has all of the facilities required for a comfortable stay, including full kitchen, bathroom with bath and walk-in shower and a second toilet. Outdoors there is a pretty rear garden with an outdoor setting and electric barbecue.
There are 2 bedrooms - one with a double bed and the other with twin beds which can be put together to make a King size on request. All linen and towels are supplied.
The kitchen is fully equipped, including gas cooktop, electric oven, microwave and full-size fridge. A 'Welcome' supply of tea, instant coffee, espresso coffee, long life milk and sugar is provided
There are 3 living spaces - dining, sitting-room and lounge - and 2 televisions (one digital). The sofa bed in the middle living room can be made up for an extra guest on request. For heating and cooling there are 2 gas heaters,a split system airconditioner and ceiling fans.
For cyclists there is undercover space at the rear of the cottage to store bikes.
