This easy care self-contained cottage has an L-shaped open plan lounge, dining and kitchen. The kitchen window looks out onto the garden.
Outdoor Features:
The rambling back garden has several large shady peppermint trees that are home to endangered Western Ring Tail Possums. Using a torch you can spot them at night. Another nocturnal feeder is the Western Brown Bandicoot or Quenda after which Quindalup was named. Small conical holes can often be seen in lawns after Quendas have been foraging. There are also plenty of pesky rabbits!
A spacious verandah ideal for alfresco dining runs along the back of the house. There is an 8 seater jarrah table and new hooded gas BBQ and tools. Two smaller 4 seater tables can be moved to pleasant spots in the garden. There is usually one under the mulberry tree.
There is ample parking for cars and a boat around the lemon tree in the middle of the front lawn.
Close to Home: Just a few steps away is the beach and the clean waters of Geographe Bay...no crowds and plenty of room for everyone to do their thing. A small jetty by the boat ramp is a good spot to sit and dangle a fishing line. There is a dog beach to run with your furry friend and occasionally you will see horses being exercised.
It is less than 5 minutes walk to Toby's Inlet, a canal like stream that runs parallel to the road and drains into Geographe Bay. Here there is an abundance of birdlife and fish such as mullet and black bream. A short but pretty walking trail can be entered from the car park opposite the boat ramp and it exits onto Campion Way.
A dual purpose cycle/walking path runs next to the beach through bushland and grassy parks to Dunsborough. If you're not feeling energetic or you want to shop a short drive will take you to shops, restaurants, post office, beauty salons, medical centre, somewhere to check the Internet and just about anything else that comes to mind.
Further Afield: Whether you're into nature, arty stuff, sport or wine tasting there is something for you within easy driving distance.
Nature: There are several scenic drives and hiking trails along the rocky coastline of the Leeuwin Naturaliste Ridge. Have a picnic in Boranup Forest.
Interested in caves? Take a tour through the impressive Mammoth, Lake or Jewel Caves.
Surfing: This part of the world is famous for surfing at spots like Yallingup and the Three Bears.
Other Sports: Apart from water sports there are other sporting opportunities including tennis and golf. For the super sporty there is the triathlon competition on Geographe Bay. There are several golf courses and one on the main road just a short distance from Bayside Cottage.
Wineries & Breweries: In the Margaret River Wine Region that includes Dunsborough there are over 90 wineries. Apart from wine tasting many have lovely gardens, restaurants, galleries, free picnic areas and activities such as boules (like aerial bowls). Operating in a similar manner there are a growing number of boutique breweries.
For the Kids: There are icecreameries, chocolate & fudge factories, reptile & bird parks, animal farms, mazes and many, many other things.
It would take much more than a week to see the everything this area has to offer!
Lounge: Very comfortable sofas, quality carpet, LCD TV, DVD and reverse cycle air conditioner.
