FRANKLIN VILLA
Franklin Villa was constructed in the year 1888 and was the original home of one Thomas Greiner who was the Official Protector of Aborigines in the Colony of Queensland before the formation of the Commonwealth of Australia. Following the inauguration of Australia in 1901 Franklin Villa became the residence of the Postmaster General for the state of Queensland. Until 1924 Franklin Villa was one of the prime government residences for high ranking officials.

In 1924 Franklin Villa passed into private hands and during the years of World War II the house was sequested as an American officers residence. After the war the house reverted to private control and was converted into individual units, or flats as they are called in Australia. In 1990 Nick Proctor acquired the premises and fully restored it back to a grand colonial style private residence. However, with a young family it became obvious that maintaining such a imposing residence without the 'staff' of centuries previous was just not feasible.

So Franklin Villa has been re-re-converted to what is now arguably Brisbane's premier short and medium term accommodation venue.
