Description

Orchid Beach is a secluded village in the remote north eastern end of Fraser Island and is the peaceful alternative to the busy southern resort settlements of Kingfisher Bay, Eurong and Happy Valley...no tour buses, day-trippers and minimal beach traffic. K'Gari is carefully designed and furnished for comfortable open plan living that maximises the incredible view and it's position in the treetops. K'Gari has an exceptionally well appointed kitchen and is always well received by those who enjoy cooking. The extraordinary unobstructed 180 degree view from Orchid Beach to Sandy Cape makes K'gari particularly unique and special.

  • "Would highly recommend Kgari for a relaxing holiday! Kgari has everything you need to stay either short or long term. Great location- not to far from tourist destinations & excellent views from balcony for viewing whales! We will be back again!"

  • "Great house. The views are amazing from the deck. Easy access to the beach with safe swimming and fishing spots and also plenty of close encounters with various wildlife. We have stayed at different places around Fraser Island before but Orchid Beach is definitely the most beautiful. We can't wait to go back and will be staying at K'gari again. Thankyou. "

  • "Wonderful house with an amazing view. Far enough off the beaten track to feel secluded and quiet even in high season, but not as hard to get to as we imagined. We will definitely stay there again when we return to Fraser."

  • "Great house in a great location. Best views of the ocean and whales of any property I have stayed at at Orchid Beach."

  • "Kgari is an achievement. It is a self-sufficient success with own water, solar electricity with minimal impact to the environment, set in one of the most beautiful parts of the island and Australia. We experienced Fraser Island in rustic luxury. When you've moved beyond camping and like the mod cons but dislike resort offerings, then this is it. You take some responsibility in preserving water and keeping the place clean which is essential for a remote location like this. Great views, good facilities in the house, great fishing and drives and full of adventure. The island is still a pretty wild place and we were very happy to be behind the insect gauze on all doors. Beware the sand fly / flea on the beaches.. unseen but at the wrong time of year can cause a week or two of ichiness! Take a portable bbq for those meals on the beach, you won't be sorry. We were on one incredible beach for the whole day and no-one else disturbed us... wow. Would we recommend Kgari, yes. Would we stay in Kgari again, yes absolutely... "

  • "difficult to describe K'Gari with words... a place like a paradise lost, out of time... read the aboriginal legend of Princess K'gari and feel the spirit of the island... explore the turquoise waters of Platypus Beach, observe the thousands of shy blue crabs hidding themselves in the white sand, explore in 4wd adventure the interior tracks and admire the variety of the vegetation, count the shooting stars from the treetop balconet, plunge in the bubbles of Champagne pool... Magic K'gari, I will come back to visit you! "

  • "Wow we hate to tell people about K'gari as it is a little bit of heaven. You are in a house above the tree line and have no neighbours to look at. It is like your own piece of paradise. We were able to watch whales sounding out in the bay as we ate our breakfast and will be back next year again, the fishing was incredible and we were able to enjoy tailor as well as a huge haul of whiting from Sandy Cape."
