These stunning, contemporary apartments offer unsurpassed views of the West Coast of Tasmania. In fact, a clever design assures that the dramatic cliff-top vistas of Macquarie Harbour aren't just seen but rather are experienced. The lounge rooms are cantilevered towards the cliff-top on elevated steele girders. At the front, huge glass windows lean outwards at the top, giving the sense of being able to step right up to the cliff's edge, above the immense waterway. The two fully self contained apartments took over 2 and a half years to build, resulting in attention to detail, making The Wheelhouse a unique property. The idea was to create a sense of standing on the bridge of a huge ship, as though the apartments hover high above the harbour itself. The maritime feel is subtly accentuated by polished timber floors, uncluttered space, stanchion wire hand-rails and exterior cladding of open-sky blue. The upstairs bedrooms don't just have spas... they have spas with more of the incredible view and also seperate ensuites. Downstairs, kitchen serving windows open onto 'yachtish' sun- decks... more of the floating flavour and barbecues are provided. Richly coloured and fossilised stone walls anchor this whole grand illision to solid ground and green grass. Local timbers are featured in light fittings, wardrobes, floors, vanities and kitchens topped with granite bench tops.
