Description
Palm Bay retreat is an exclusive, private Resort situated on Long Island (10 km from Shute Harbour) in the Whitsunday's. There are 21 private Bure's and one luxury 2 bedroom Platinum house, all designed in a Balinese theme and situated directly on the west facing beach with stunning views out to the Coral Sea and surrounding Islands.
Guests will find few reminders of the outside world in our beach hideaways - no telephones, no televisions and no clocks.
Owners have full use of their individual Bungalows as well as the main resort which features a large swimming pool and attached Spa, huge lounge area featuring an open fireplace and separate Large Screen Movie viewing room.
There is a caretaker on the Island to keep the resort clean and refresh cabins. As well as maintain facilities such as power and water.
We are allowing a Max of only 3 groups to be on the island at any one time however owners can use their cabins at any time and anyone can book out the island for private parties etc.
You will have use of the resort including pool and BBQ, kayak and snorkeling equipment.
You must take all your own food and drinks. owever the Caretaker has set up a small shop and has a range of breads and frozen foods in case you run short.
It is a 15 min bush walk to Long Island club Crocodile Resort which has a licenced Bar and resturant as well as axcess to reef and Island trips. Extra supplies can be bought in by barge for long stays if required at a nominal fee.
There are 21 Bungalows on the Island so if you have a group that want to enjoy the Island contact me and I can arrange the use of other owners cabins.
There is one 2 bedroom residence which has full cooking facilities.
Children must be 12 years or older.
Smoking is only allowed in designated smoking areas.
Other basic Rules:
Be sensible and take responsibility for yourselves.
Do not take sit on kayaks past the last buoy as the current is very strong in the channel and you will not be able to kayak against it.
Take insect repellent, chocolate and of course WINE.
Don't stand under coconut trees.
Don't feed the wildlife
Neither will you find hoards of people, they can visit other islands. We are a Retreat, not a resort and our goal is to offer the most intimate, private and quintessential island holiday experience in Australia
Transportation
Phil from Island Transfers offers private transfers. These depart from Shute Harbour, Airlie Beach for a short 20 min trip to Long Island.
Cost is $80 pp return and departures require a min of 2 passengers.
An extra $80 per trip is charged if you have a lot of luggage which may require 2 trips.
For longer stays "Scamper" Island Camping is a larger boat that can also do transfers for the same $80pp return. min 4 passengers.
From Hamilton Island, Cruise Whitsundays run a ferry service to Long Island Jetty. Cost is from $46 one way from the Airport. you can then walk the 20 mins to Palm bay. David the Caretaker may be able to pick you up in the island boat for a small nominal fee.
Shopping can be arranged on- line and Coles and can be picked up and dropped off at Shute Harbour at a cost of $30.
For the ultimate arrival, we can book a helicopter to drop you directly at the island. Cost for this is at Charter rates and if available. Estimated cost from Hamilton island one way would be $400.

FOOD
As the resort is now closed all food and drinks must be bought into the Island. You have use of the BBQ and Bar area. Alternately walk to Club Crocodile Long Island for restaurant quality food and bar.
There is also a kettle, toaster, electric griller, electric hotplates and microwave
The BBQ has a hood so can act as an oven and there is also an adjoining gas hot plate. All crockery, cutlery, pots and pans etc are provided but we do ask that you clean up after yourself and take your rubbish off the island if possible.
As power is supplied via generator occasionally if fuel can not be supplied the resort may be closed for a short time until fuel arrives. We try to give guests plenty of notice of this but sometimes it is unavoidable.
Palm Bay is a beautiful location and we are opening the resort up to everyone but we do ask that you take responsibility for yourself and you look after our property and common area so that others can continue to enjoy it.

Prices
Transfers are $80pp return and departures are subject to change so will not be confirmed until time of booking. This resort has full use of Pool and restaurant Kitchen but you must take all your own food and alcohol
