Nine architectural, ECO, fully accessible, 5-star-energy efficient, lofted cabins surround a central billabong, heated swim/spa pool, covered BBQ area and conference/party room. O’Carrollyn’s beautiful holiday village is nestled in a secluded bushland setting away from the hustle and bustle of cars and people, yet minutes away from beach and national park.
O'Carrollyn's has developed without enviromental impact to protect and provide cover and feed for the local wildlife, including many species of frogs, birds and of course, koalas.
All O’Carrollyns’ cabins have a large front verandah, leading into spacious open-plan lounge, dining room, and fully equipped kitchen. The large master bedroom (with two-way bathroom entry) is adjacent to a spacious bathroom. The upper floor loft makes exciting sleeping quarters for up to 6 children and/or adults.
Like the grounds of O’Carrollyn’s, the ground floor of each cabin is fully accessible for all. There is plenty of turning space, support ramps, and easy access from room to room.
During the warm summer nights, the verandahs are ideal for dining, enjoying a bottle of wine, or just relaxing as the sun goes down. They’re also great for those day-time picnics amongst the wildlife. There’s plenty of room between individual cabins—your well-deserved holidays are private. And there’s ample room for parking cars and boats near each cabin.
The cabins cleverly take advantage of both the sun and the shade. All cabins have fully insulated floors, walls and roof. Intelligent design keeps them naturally cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Each cabin has (complimentary) aircon to maintain a preferred internal environment.
O’Carrollyn’s makes the perfect getaway in a wonderful, informal natural setting. When you’re tucked away in one of our cabins, the only sounds you will here will be the breaking surf, the wind in the trees, the carrolling of magpies, and chortling of parrots—and the occasional night-time grunts of koalas and possums. Enjoy your stay.
In the late 1800's, with no spuds in the larder, the O'Carrollyn clan set out from Ireland in the HMS O'Shamrock for the promised land of Australia. Sighting land through the mist near Port Stephen's they hit the booze and danced to celebrate. Unfortunately, in their meriment they missed the Heads and ended up on the rocks of Boulder Bay. Great-great grandad O'Carrollyn changed his name to Carroll, and using his impeccable experience in serving refreshments, became the second publican of the Sea Breeze Hotel in Nelson Bay. Weighing over 2.5 tons, the large anchor in the driveway of O'Carrollyn's is from the wreck of the O'Shamrock. Talk to O'Carrollyns for local knowledge.
