Get out of the city! Get into the country! Get into relax mode!

This is the place to get away from it all! Catch up on all the R&R you\'ve been missing out on. Get away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. Bellthorpe Cottage - your hide away in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

Located in the tranquil, leafy area of Bellthorpe near Maleny, the cottage is on an old dairy farm bordering a National Park complete with rainforest, waterfall and resident wildlife. A spring feed creek transects the property, through pasture country into our own rainforest, down a series of small waterfalls and then into the National Park. Its easy to spend hours at the waterfall or in the rainforest, listening and marvelling at nature.

With over 100 peaceful acres, the one bedroom timber cottage is a great place to get away from it all and take in the atmosphere - do nothing, or explore! Accommodation at the cottage is self catering. Or if you prefer, meals can be ordered. There\'s lots of open space, cool breezes, wide verandahs, wood heater for those cool nights and well equipped kitchen.

A bit about the farm.

Originally surveyed in 1907, the farm initially was used for timber production. Two thirds of the farm were cleared to become a dairy farm until some 18 years ago when beef cattle became the main agricultural pursuit. The remaining third of the farm is still native rainforest and ajoins Bellthorpe National Park. The farm is now a hide away retreat, well away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

The modern cottage is has all the facilities you will need for self catering. Have your meals ordered in advance, or cook in your own time. Linen (bedding and towels) are supplied. There is no TV (and that\'s a good point!, but can be provided free on request). Tracks on the farm will take you through the paddocks, to the creek, rainforest, waterfall, National Park boundary and to views of the Mary Valley.

Discover the rainforest, take in the sounds of nature, rest at the waterfalls, take a walk around and explore, tour the district or just sit back and relax. Kookaburras, King parrots, currawongs, cockatoos, lorikeets and rosellas are regular visitors. Maybe find the elusive Platypus at the creek. Whatever you do, you\'ll enjoy the surroundings.

Comments from a few guests include:

\"We found ourselves again\"
\"Almost too relaxing\"
\"I don\'t won\'t to leave\"
\"We\'ll be back\"
\"Superb meals!\"
\"Biggest variety of birds that we\'ve seen for ages.\"

For a trip around the district, not far away is Maleny, Montville and down the range is Woodford, the Glass House Mountains and Sunshine coast. A great place for a quiet time away from it all!

Guest Reviews

  • "I was looking for a tranquil getaway having just gone through a tough time in my life. The cottage was more than i expected with ample walking tracks and bushland to explore. The log fire at night and the food bought in was superb - I have recommended Bellthorpe to many people since my visit. David, my host was perfect - friendly, helpful and only around when I needed him."

  • "Bellthorpe Cottage is a beautiful hideaway. The waterfall is well worth the bush walk and the brilliantly coloured birds are a delight on the bird feeders. "

  • "We have spent two wonderful breaks at this magic place. We cannot say anything negative about Bellthorpe Cottage - it is pure magic. We have been there in both winter and summer and both were truly exciting experiences in terms of the environment, the weather and the wildlife. The host is very passionate and knowledgeable about his property and that adds to the stay."
