Enjoy the Surroundings

Get out of the city! Get into the country! Get into relax mode!

Located just over an hour from Brisbane in the lush, leafy area of Bellthorpe, the cottage is nestled in the green hills on a working farm, complete with its own rainforest, waterfall and resident wildlife.

With 120 peaceful acres, the timber cottage is a great place to get away from it all and take in the atmosphere. Accommodation in the cottage is self catering with wide verandahs, a well equipped kitchen, queen size bed, wood heater. If you prefer, meals can be ordered with advance notice.

Check out the wild life, discover the rainforest, take in the sounds of nature, rest at the waterfalls, take a walk around and explore, tour the district or just sit back and relax, but whatever you do, you'll enjoy the surroundings.

Where?
At Bellthorpe, in the hills, between Maleny and Woodford, Queensland.

Farming to Retreat

Over 100 years ago, about half the property was cleared to become a dairy farm until some 20 years ago when beef cattle became the main agricultural pursuit. The remaining half is still native rainforest and ajoins Bellthorpe National Park. The property is now a hide away retreat, well away from the hussle and bussle of city life.

The modern timber cottage has all the facilities you will need for self catering. It has a well equipped kitchen (4 burner gas top cooker, microwave, electric jug, convection oven, toaster, radio / CD and settings for two), wide verandahs, big windows, a wood heater and is furnished including a queen size bed. Linen is provided. Bring your own food and personal items. Note that mobile phone reception is marginal but most comments are that is a good thing! And there's no TV, but can be supplied free on request.

Walking tracks on the farm will take you through the paddocks, to the creek, rainforest, waterfall, National Park boundary and to glimpses of the Mary Valley. All this and you are only just over an hour from Brisbane and half an hour to Maleny!

  • "I was looking for a quiet country getaway not too far from where I live. The cottage lived up to my expectations. It is very secluded, I felt at home the minute I walked in. We made full use of the log heater as the night was quite chilly. The variety of birds were amazing, the King Parrots were soooo beautiful and quite tame. David the owner lives close by but he won't bother you unless you ask him up for a drink, which we did and we thoroughly enjoyed his company. We only stayed one night but we will certainly be back. "

  • "I was looking for a tranquil getaway having just gone through a tough time in my life. The cottage was more than i expected with ample walking tracks and bushland to explore. The log fire at night and the food bought in was superb - I have recommended Bellthorpe to many people since my visit. David, my host was perfect - friendly, helpful and only around when I needed him."

  • "Bellthorpe Cottage is a beautiful hideaway. The waterfall is well worth the bush walk and the brilliantly coloured birds are a delight on the bird feeders. "

  • "We have spent two wonderful breaks at this magic place. We cannot say anything negative about Bellthorpe Cottage - it is pure magic. We have been there in both winter and summer and both were truly exciting experiences in terms of the environment, the weather and the wildlife. The host is very passionate and knowledgeable about his property and that adds to the stay."
