During the warmer months water skiing is the major attraction at Lake Mulwala. You can learn how to ski or even hire your own boat or canoe.
A popular past time is to hire your own BBQ pontoon boat with friends and sit back, relax and enjoy the views.
Lake Mulwala is one of the best places on the Murray River to catch a Murray cod. The cod population is fantastic and, as such, fishing in the area is a major attraction throughout the year.

Yarrawonga/ Mulwala has some spectacular walking tracks around the lake and across the bridges. You can even walk down into the river bends and among the Red Gums to experience another unique side of the Murray.
Chinaman's Island Walking Track and Bird Sanctuary Nature Reserve is a popular destination. The lake at Chinaman's Island teems with a multitude of wondrous bird life such as cockatoos, galahs, water birds, thornbills, white ibis, herons, pelicans, swans, etc. Well worth a visit.
History abounds for those with an interest in our pioneering past:
Byramine Homestead was established in 1842 by pioneer, Elizabeth Hume. Magnificent gardens, ploughman's lunch and deavonshire teas are available. Open Thursday to Monday.
Savernake Station Woolshed houses a variety of artefacts and a display about the wool industry. This 1930's style woolshed is fully operational and is open by arrangement.
The Pioneer Museum showcases memorabilia depicting the history of Yarrawonga/Mulwala and surrounding districts. Includes photographs, artefacts & early farming exhibitions. Housed in a spacious facility, featuring one of the largest and most comprehensive exhibits of early pioneering days in Australia.
For those interested in Aborignal heritage a a side trip to Boat Rock and also the Canoe Tree at Kyffins Reserve are not to be missed. Even though there are no facilities there, Boat Rock is a one of a kind, and thus you will not see a phenomenon like this anywhere else in the World. Worth a trip for this alone.
