Yarrawonga "A touch of paradise"
Yarrawonga's major natural attraction is Lake Mulwala which was formed by the building of a weir across the Murray River in the 1930's. The 23 kilometre long lake is a popular spot for boating, fishing and swimming. The lake and boat ramp are only 300m from your door at Birches on Madden. Cant get much better than that.
Yarrawonga's warm and stable climate and the array of festivals held in the area throughout the year make this a wonderful placed to holiday for families and couples alike.
A freshwater fishing tournament on the Murray River and Lake Mulwala known as the "COD CLASSIC" is held every year along with events such as the "Winery Walkabout: at Rutherglen, which is only a short 30 minute drive away.
Rutherglen is steeped in history. The discovery of Gold in 1860 saw the town prosper. These days there are almost 20 wineries all located within a short drive from the town centre. Historical shops in the main street add to its charm.
Mulwala is located on the northern shores of the Murray River and Lake Mulwala and holds claim to have the largest public access golf resort in Australia with a 45 hole course.
