Description
The Deweyshack, a charmingly rustic 3-bedroom cottage, nestles at the edge of a very large and vibrant garden abounding with native wildlife, fruit and citrus trees (Property Manager at adjacent property tends to garden daily). Picture above was the Deweyshack a year or so ago; it has since been repainted an eco-gray colour outside (see photo #20), neutral off-white inside with new matching vertical blinds. Guests enjoy the cool breezes on the large deck, and the comforting warmth of the wood-fired potbelly slow combustion heater in the living room when it's cold outside. It is an oasis of tranquility with massive bushland views, yet only minutes away from stunning beaches (dog-on-lead, Merry and Kioloa), excellent fishing, snorkeling, kayaking and surfing, and the beckoning trails of the Murramarang National Park. This huge and unique battle axe block (mobile phone reception at the top of driveway or at the boat ramp at Kioloa Beach) provides ample off-street parking for 2 or more cars. Secure parking within the property for trailered boats, kayaks, mountain bikes, canoes and other large toys is available on request, but subject to management's discretion. Well-behaved dogs are allowed inside, but never on furniture and in bedrooms, and only by written prior arrangement on application. A fenced enclosure has been provided so your dog can be safely left home alone. A short drive to the Bawley Point shops takes you to the IGA supermarket, chemist, bakery, bottle shop and news agency. Be sure to book early for Thursday night specials or Sunday lunch at the increasingly popular Merry Street Restaurant (free WiFi access for diners) - and only a 3 minute walk from the property. The adjacent Merry Beach Take-away has ATM, daily newspapers, fresh bread and milk, etc. Walk to Pretty Beach, or hike along the coastline and the national park to Pebbly Beach, enjoy comfortable 4-wheel driving in the surrounding national parks and state forests to get to Pigeon Mountain, the Berry Farm and Shallow Crossing, go wine tasting at local wineries, sample superb cuisine at various award-winning restaurants further north at Ulladulla (we recommend Cupitt's), Mollymook (check out Tallwood and Bannister's), and Milton, or head south to Bateman's Bay, Mogo and Moruya - the list goes on. Well worth a visit is the fish shop at Burrill Lake on Prince's Highway for the freshest catch of the day, local fish and chips to die for. You will never run out of activities and places to see and visit during your stay with us, no matter what the season. Kioloa and the South Coast have a lot to offer all year round. But if you just want to veg out, unwind, relax and enjoy some quiet time, then the place you want to be at is the Deweyshack.
Enquire now about specials and discounts on offer during low to mid-season. We love having guests and would not mind passing on savings so that the Deweyshack will be occupied at most times. Last year's autumn and winter guests enjoyed coming home and relaxing to the warmth of the wood-fired heater after long bushwalks in the nearby national forests, or strolls along the coastline. Subject to availabity during low to mid season and manager's discretion, we allow early check-in OR late check-out, but only on prior written arrangement on application. Bookings of a minimum 7 nights will also receive a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival. A maximum 7 residents are allowed (including kids) and beds are as follows: queen in main bedroom, double in bedroom 2, bunk (single top, double below) in kids' bedroom 3, and a king single fold-out daybed in the living room.
We are deeply appreciative and encouraged by positive reviews and comments from our guests, and we continue to improve the property so that they feel it's their home away from home. We take pride in our increasing list of repeat bookings as testament to a job well done, even though the property has been in the holiday rental business for just a little over a year. JUST IN: a brand new dishwasher has been installed, adding to our growing list of creature comforts and improvements. ALREADY IN: Large digital flat screen LCD TV, IPOD docking system, MP3 stereo, DVD, washing machine, drip coffee machine for brewing coffee, vacuum cleaner, portable free standing heaters for each bedroom. Just recently (May 2013), new user-friendly floorboards were installed on the living and dining rooms and study floor, and the main bathroom was given a fresh new look with floor to ceiling tiles and new fixtures. WATCH THIS SPACE - more improvements are planned.

Thanks for a most wonderful stay. The house is clean and comfortable and well equipped for everything we needed. Weather was perfect for soaking up the morning sun on the deck over brewed coffee and breakfast. The wood stove added just the right touch for cuddly evenings.
