On the first weekend in November, Blackheath celebrates with the annual Rhododendron Festival. The town is ablaze with the beautiful shrubs and there are food and wine stalls selling local produce as well. Thhis year's festival is on 6-7 November

Shipley Plateau and Megalong Valley
Try the best apple juice in Australia and taste apples picked that day that taste as good as any apple ever has at Logan Brae Orchard on Shipley Rd, 4km west of Blackheath. Travel another 4km along the Shipley Rd to see the amazing view south from Hargraves Lookout or the hang gliders off Mt Blackheath. Beyond the Mt Blackheath turnoff down into the Kanimbla Valley is Centennial Glen horseriding stables, great for young jockeys. The horse riding from Megalong Valley Farms is great for all ages (1hr or longer guided rides). On the way stop and stroll the beautiful 600m Coachwood Glen rainforest loop walk in the upper reaches of the Megalong Valley. A more challenging walk 20 mins along the Valleys is the 8km descent of the famous 6 Foot Track to the Cox's River. This is part of an historic walk from Katoomba's Explorers Tree to Jenolan Caves, a marathon is run along this track each March. At the end of the Megalong Valley road is the start of bushwalks down Breakfast Creek into the remote Blue Mountains National Park and Kanangra Boyd National Parks.

Popes Glen walk
Popes Glen walk is an easy walking trail that follows a lovely meandering brook through an some beautiful and unspoilt natural bushland and forest supporting abundant wildlife. The walk starts from Dell Street and continues through to a natural swimming hole and onto Govett's Leap.
You can continue walking to Bridal Veil Falls and other awe inspiring views.
