Oberon has all the essentials you might need for your holiday with 2 supermarkets, pubs, restaurants, clubs, galleries, tennis courts, and a swimming pool. Bathurst, being a regional centre, has more shops, cafés, restaurants, pubs and services and of course the Mount Panorama race track for motor enthusiasts. There are also lots of small villages in the area that are fun to investigate such as O'Connell, Tarana and Black Springs.
The cabins are very close to 2 of Australia's most famous tourist attractions - the Blue Mountains and Jenolan Caves. Both are within easy reach - 45 mins to the Caves and 1hour 20 mins to Katoomba by car. The Kanangra Boyd National Park is also close by as are the ZigZag Railway, Abercrombie and Wombeyan Caves. Outdoor activities popular in the area include fishing, golfing, fossicking, hiking, horse riding and mountain biking. When you are exhausted from all these physical pursuits it is wonderful to come back to the warmth and comfort of the Yellowbox Cabins and simply put your feet up and relax with a glass of wine and take in the wonderful surroundings.

We stayed in the July 2015 school holidays (just missed the snow in Oberon). The kids loved the country feel (so did we). There were sheep, kangaroos and rabbits which fascinated the kids. And the stars at night were breathtaking. The drive to Oberon was only 10-15 minute drive and Bathurst was about 25-30 minutes. We specifically stayed here as we wanted to go to Jenolan caves. We only stayed in Acacia cabin but if you were looking for somewhere to stay with two families, this would be perfect as the two cabins are connected by a verandah. There is an outdoor bbq and plenty of room for the kids to run around. The beds were very comfortable and all linen was provided which was a real bonus. Couldn't get the tv to work but that was a minor thing for us. Having the wood fire was lovely and there were heaters in the bedrooms so we were never cold. We would highly recommend staying here and if our 4year old had anything to do with it, we would be there every holiday period as she has not stopped talking about it.

Magnificent location on top of hill
We loved our recent 2 night weekend stay in the Acacia cabin at Yellowbox. We were pleasantly surprised to find it only a 10 min drive from Oberon, which meant we were not far from access to the good selection of supermarkets, cafes, bakeries, chemists, butchers and pubs in town. It was also not far from Jenolan Caves, the reason for our stay at Yellowbox. We made use of the spacious & well equipped kitchen and undercover BBQ. The beds were clean & comfortable and we appreciated not having to bring out own bedding. Having two bathrooms for the group to use was terrific. We enjoyed the wood burning stove and an array of board games at nights. Being perched atop a hill, the location of the property is very picturesque - there are sheep and rabbits/hares roaming the property - with a lovely view towards the meandering road below and the hills beyond. We enjoyed the fresh country air and the amazingly clear star-filled nights. The only minor negative is not enough sofa seating for 6+ around the TV and wood stove. Our enquiry and booking was handled by friendly and professional staff which made the process very easy and straightforward. We highly recommend Yellowbox.
