Filled with a collection of antiques and rustic country furniture / curios and constructed using recycled timber beams and reclaimed windows and doors from country properties and hotels. Everything in the house has a history and has been collected over a lifetime of treasure hunting.
At kookawood we aim to give our guests a unique experience so dont expect to see any modern furniture here. Except of course for modern conveniences like TV, Foxtel , Air conditioner, continuous hot water, ( underfloor heating in bathroom - winter only ) full country kitchen inc dishwasher/microwave/gas cooktop/electric double oven and grill /crockery / coffee machine.
Huge open plan Lounge/dining/kitchen with large windows that have spectacular views out across the Blue mountains. Sunny upstairs reading room filled with books for those wanting to enjoy some quiet time curled up with a book on one of our comfy couches.
Both bedrooms, wrap around verandah and outdoor entertaining area have fantastic views and BBQ is undercover so you can enjoy it year round.
Enjoy a glass of wine in front of the large romantic log fire or snuggle up in front of the large screen TV and spend the night watching cable TV or choose a movie from our large collection of DVD's.
Another TV and DVD player also located in 2nd bedroom upstairs.
We have a large reverse cycle air conditioner in the main living area for heating in winter or cooling during summer if you dont wish to use the fire
lounge , dining and kitchen are open plan with 3 - 7m high cathedral ceilings. Great collection of DVD's / CD's - multimedia system also takes ipod and iphone

Rustic country kitchen features large english double oven with 5 burner gas cooktop and hotplate plus a microwave and fridge,dishwasher. Fully equipped and ready to cook up a feast ( please bring your own food )
Bathroom has clawfoot bathtub with overhead shower and continuous hot water & underfloor heating in winter.
Separate toilet room has a hand basin and mirror with eco friendly waterless toilet - it is a modern version of a composting toilet and looks just like a normal toilet but there is no need to flush. It is located inside the house

Dangerous, aggressive dogs are not permitted on the property.
Plenty of room to run around and lots exploring to do.
We are dog owners so understand that your pet is an important member of the family too! and of course you want to take them on holidays as well - we just ask that you follow the following rules
Kookawood has a fenced backyard (250 m/2 + area just outside the back door or access via a doggie door - plenty of room to run and play ) not suitable for dogs that may jump over or dig under fence!
We also have a doggie door that leads out onto the front balcony so they can come and go as they please while you sit out on the balcony and soak up the beautiful views. (Front garden is not fenced - only back yard is fenced ).
There is a large pond in the front garden - we do ask that people keep their pets out.
If your dog goes for swim in the dam dry off before entering the house
Linen in the house is for human use only ! please bring your own dog blankets
Dogs must be on a leash when walking thru paddocks where farm animals reside
( injury to our animals can be caused by them having to run away from excited pets and or injury to your dog if they kick to protect themselves)
We do require that all owners with pets that shed hair use the vacuum before departure to remove any hair from carpets and floors.
If your pet does not like to be left alone and barks or is destructive please do not leave your pet at the house or in the garden unattended. We have a list of pet friendly cafe's and other places so you can take them on your days out.
Please pick up doggie poo from fenced rear garden area before departure and put in garbage bin
Our three hand feed pet cows - Boo , Bella and Bob plus 2 horses Bobby and Sonnet are very friendly and are known to pop their heads in the car if you stop to say hello
( carrots and apples welcome !).
Collect fresh eggs from the chickens each morning.
