Omaroo Megalong Valley is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Doesn't get any better, this is my favourite. I hesitate to post a glowing review and have this place any more popular than it is. I want it all to myself. Still, here we go: Megalong Valley is stunning. Lots of rich and famous families live here for a reason. It's the bomb. Stop by Megalong Tea Rooms on the way, and get the scones with jam and cream. They give you a ridiculous amount of cream. The property seems near new. Everything top notch, working brilliantly. Bring extra dishwashing tablets (they don't give you enough) and a few rubbish bags if you're staying all week. 1 is not enough. The location is the highlight. You are secluded, seemingly no neighbours (caretaker Steve lives a 800m up the hill but uses a different road). You're safe but you're alone. It gets pure dark at night so bring night vision goggles like we did, or torches if you want to venture around the patio at night. Expect to meet the resident wombat. The fireplace is superb, and I'm comparing it to other fireplaces. It's deep and large, combusts slowly and completely, is clean, and heats the entire house so well you'll need to crack a window. The appliances, furniture and fittings were all either brand new, or in great condition. The beds were excellent. Firm but not too much. The couch was phenomenal. Perhaps even better to sleep on than the beds. The TV is huge. And takes 5 minutes to turn on (what the?). Internet can be slow (about 1.0mbps, sometimes bursting to 3.5ish), with some latency and timeouts, but what do you expect in such a pristine remote location. Turn your laptop off. This property is owner occupied (well they use it as a holiday home), so that explains why everything is such high quality. I love this place so much, I hope you don't all go and book it out. It's basically my dream home/land package.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Serenity with a view! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oomaroo. We wanted somewhere quiet, peaceful, modern and comfortable for our honeymoon and we could not have chosen a better place! The view from the back deck is exceptional and the facilities in the home are top rate! Thankyou

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The seclusion, the slow combustion stove, the full length window from the shower, having Steve as live-on-the-premises caretaker added a sense of security, and he was a delightful local host AND sensitive to our desire for privacy while being approachable, the option of indoor and outdoor dining (pity the wind foiled most of our outdoor dining options), the views from the bedroom (we never put down the blinds!), actually ALL the views! All the tracks and bush-walks. Everything being well-equipped and of good quality. Being able to effectively close off the half of the house we didn't need. Excellent entertainment unit and top selection of movies - we watched a few movies as we sipped our wine and nibbled cheese. Oh, and the WiFi was really helpful too to keep up on emails, though some times it would be good to leave that behind, but having it gives us the choice.
