Description

Omaroo certainly lives up to its name - which comes from the Aboriginal word for 'beautiful view'

* QUALITY FURNISHINGS, COMPLIMENTARY SATELLITE TV & WIFI INTERNET *

Perched at the very edge of the escarpment, this home has truly epic, uninterrupted views from almost every room: the lounge, dining, kitchen, both queen bedrooms (and their balconies), the massive entertaining deck... and the main bathroom, where you can relax in the spa while looking out over the valley below.

But don't let the views fool you... You may feel like you're at the end of the world, but with the historic Imperial Hotel just over 1 kilometre away, Blackheath's famous cafes and restaurants within 5 minutes drive, and the Blue Mountains' world-heritage wilderness and attractions in every direction, you'll have instant access to all that the region has to offer.

Write a Review
Omaroo Mount Victoria is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding value, roomy property. OVERALL Grade A. 90%. Excellent place. The only reason I wouldn't stay here again is because I discovered their other 'Omaroo' property in Megalong Valley. Mt Victoria was a blast. We stayed in all week long, never went out. We gave the house a good workout; we know all the switches and nuances of this property now. So here is a detailed review (of all the stuff you can't read in the description): PROPERTY The house is large, 3 levels, with a good lounge room, very roomy separate dining room, smallish kitchen (for the size of the house), extra large outdoor deck (the highlight). VIEWS There are views from every room except for the 3rd bedroom (which probably doesn't get used), and the downstairs toilet/laundry. So that means amazing, uninterrupted, private views from: Lounge, kitchen, dining, master bedroom, upstairs bathroom/spa, 2nd bedroom, deck. Expect to see views all day long. You're facing West so you'll see grand sunsets over the valley. LOUNGE The black leather couches are comfortable enough but not the best. The fireplace is awesome, but doesn't carry heat throughout the house for some reason. Expect to use the heaters in other rooms to supplement. The coffee table is excellent. The shag pile rug is on its last legs. I can't imagine how hard this rug would be to clean. Lounge opens onto deck. KITCHEN The oven, stovetop, microwave and everything else works great. You can cook full on meals here. The fridge is big, it looked basically new. Maytag. They give you 1 dishwasher tablet per night (or slightly less in our case). So bring a few spare unless you want to do dishes. My wife and I could have easily gone through 2 loads per day (we just relaxed and ate cool food all week). DINING ROOM A highlight - massive solid dining table with solid chairs. Well decorated. Views. Automatic natural gas heater (on/off, high/med/low). Powerful heater. Opens onto deck. DECK The highlight. Very large, outdoor dining table was good, with umbrella for rain. BBQ was great and clean too. Deckchairs and coffee table was a nice area to have breakfast in. There is a gas powered stand heater (you know those mushroom looking things?). Use it. Birds come to this deck a lot. Bring birdseed. BEDROOM 1 + 2 Basically identical with queen beds that are very firm. Some of the firmest I've seen, but I love firm. My wife struggled a bit. Doonas seemed to be synthetic (you know the type that are super warm, don't breathe much), which made it easy to overheat even with the doors open in winter and freezing air on the face. Plenty of space, great views, loved sleeping here. UPSTAIRS BATHROOM The spa is not much to love. It felt small even for my tiny wife. A welcome addition but not a huge drawcard compared to everything else the house has to offer. We had a strong chlorine smell when we used it, perhaps it was just bleached. Views amazing again. AMENITIES Full laundry with good appliances. Bring washing powder. Rinnai infinity hot water system means unlimited hot water (yay!) but temperature maxed at 50C which feels lukewarm. You can't really have a 'hot' shower to relax. More like a 'decently warm' shower that goes on forever. Everything works really well in this house, whether it be the coffee machine, the light switches, the door locks, the windows, or the bbq. Everything works well. Bring filtered water if you're an uptight city slicker who wants filtered water. It's town water here and tastes a little chlorinated or something. Teas tasted funny without using filtered water. CLEANLINESS Spot on. They clean this place well. Tidy as. Only concern was that lounge rug. Not sure what's going on with it. A couple of dishes weren't totally clean, but that's the fault of the previous tenant. Otherwise, this place is a pleasure - don't worry about dirty/dingy/mouldy. It's great. Except that rug... MISC Go up the road to the vacant lots to find lots of kindling. And to dump your (COLD!) fire ash if you need to empty the fireplace. Chopping firewood is so much fun - they provide plenty of wood, a couple of axes and some chopping blocks. NOISE Surprise surprise, you are very close to the main highway that links Lithgow>Katoomba>Sydney. And you are close to a hill down the valley. So you've got the best views ever, and also trucks using compression braking/engine breaking going down the hill. They don't stop for weekends, or for weather, or at midnight. 2am. 4am. If you've left all the windows open, you'll hear it. My advice is to sleep with windows closed (they become so faint you'll not notice them). OVERALL Don't hesitate to book this place, even for 7days+. Would be great for a larger group. Don't expect whisper quiet serenity. You're still close to town/attractions/highway. Expect a clean, luxurious, quality stay with views to die for. I wish my own house was this big and well appointed.
