Local history

The village today

An Explorer's Village

In 1814 when William Cox was building the road over the blue mountains, he established his second depot near the present village, he built a slab hut and the area became known as "Weatherboard". In the 1880s Weatherboard was renamed "Wentworth Falls" in Honour of William Charles Wentworth. William Charles Wentworth, William Lawson and Gregory Blaxland were the first explorers to cross the Blue Mountains.
