    Established in the Blue Mountains in 1990, Falls Gallery continues to provide a constantly changing exhibition of works on paper and ceramics by emerging and well established artists. The gallery is located in Falls Road, Wentworth Falls, in a beautifully restored turn of the last century weatherboard cottage. It is situated in a large, well established mountain garden and is a mere two minutes walk from the Falls Reserve Picnic area and lookouts.

Opening in 1993 as a café it replaced the old Hut which opened in 1963 and was originally used as a meeting place for members of the conservation movement.     Kings Tableland Observatory

    The observatory is located at Wentworth Falls, it is at an altitude of 930 metres which makes it a high and dark site, but still close to Sydney. The facility is open to any interested people or groups. Three modern telescopes are available for use, on cloudy nights we have a flat screen planetarium. We offer: Workshops on the night sky, Use of star charts, Astrophotography and Instruction on the use of telescopes. Hours: Open to public, Friday, Saturday and Sunday Evenings from 7pm. 8pm during daylight savings It is also open on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm for Solar Observing. School Holidays open every night Group bookings on Wednesday and Thursday evenings only, by appointment.

    Heading from Sydney towards Wentworth Falls, turn left off the Great Western Highway into Tableland Road and turn left into Queen Elizabeth Drive. At the end of the sealed road there is a fork in the road.     Wentworth Falls Lake was created by the damming of Jamison Creek to supply water for the steam railway. The Lake is now home to native and introduced waterfowl, native fish such as Gudgeons, and water bugs including freshwater crayfish, freshwater shrimp and dragonfly nymphs. It is also a popular picnic spot, with barbeque facilities and children’s play equipment.

    An Explorer's Village

    In 1814 when William Cox was building the road over the blue mountains, he established his second depot near the present village, he built a slab hut and the area became known as "Weatherboard". In the 1880s Weatherboard was renamed "Wentworth Falls" in Honour of William Charles Wentworth. William Charles Wentworth, William Lawson and Gregory Blaxland were the first explorers to cross the Blue Mountains.
