Not my kind of town. It\'s really in the middle of nowhere and is only good if you are a miner. Had a meal at a Chinese restaurant there and would have to say it was the worst Chinese I\'ve had in my life. I don\'t plan on going back to Broken Hill anytime soon.

My family lived in Broken Hill for three years, in our last year we lived like we were tourists. It was fantastic. The fact that it is so remote is what makes it so special, but also what made us happy to leave. The must see\'s for us were: The mullock heap in the centre of town with the worlds biggest park bench and the memorial to the miners. Delprats mine for the real mining experience and White\'s mining museum for the almost real mining experience. The Railway Museum for any train buffs (Hands on and kids will love it). Geocentre (Also hands on). Living Desert and Sculpture Symposium. Flying Doctors Museum. Mario\'s Palace. Art Galleries, something for all tastes, don\'t forget the Big Picture at the mint. Pub and Club crawls are a lot of funand the walk will let you see the real town. No visit to Broken Hill is complete without a visit to Silverton, you could easily spend a day here, especially if you take in Daydream mine, a camel ride, museums, galleries, and the world famous Silverton Hotel. If you can, surrounding towns are also worth a visit, take in White Cliffs, Tibooburra and Menindee. They are more of the same, but it\'s all so beautiful and different from what you\'re used to, that the experience will be worth it and you\'ll be glad you made the effort. If you do make it to Tibooburra, take the huge drive all the way to Cameron Corner, have lunch at the store/pub, just to say you\'ve been there. Broken Hill is so remote that you will probably only go there once, make sure you spend a week, at least, experience everything and enjoy!!!

Broken Hill is quite vibrant and quite a few things to do including the mine, Royal Flying Doctor Service base and art galleries. You can walk down the various streets named after minerals such as Sulphide St. However the remoteness of it all does strike you eventually.

Broken Hill, funny name in the middle of nowhere. Big mining town the home of BHP. The jewel in Broken Hill is Pro Hart\'s gallery. I don\'t like art galleries but this gallery blew me away.
