The historic village of Broke is idyllically situated on the banks of the Wollombi brook - dozing peacefully in the sun below the massive golden escarpment of Yellow Rock at the western end of the Brokenback Range and nestled on the edge of the World Heritage listed Yengo National Park.

What to Do

Sitting between Pokolbin and Wollombi, Broke played a critical role in the development and history of NSW. The area also offers some of the best wining and dining in the State

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent weekend My friends and I enjoyed our 3 day stay at Summa-Rose Cottage, it was perfect for a girls weekend away! The cottage is exactly as it appears in the photos and the house was very clean and tidy when we arrived. We thoroughly enjoyed the cheese and wine that was left for us. I would definitely stay there again. Thank you!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cosy and comfortable We really enjoyed the 'country feel' of Summa-Rose cottage. The bedrooms were very comfortable and clean. The semi enclosed outdoor area was fabulous and we relaxed there both nights enjoying the surprise cheese platter that arrived in the late afternoon! Also the bottle of wine, a lovely touch. The kitchen area for 3 couples was a little cramped as there was not much bench space for preparing food and the noise in the water pipes was rather loud but didn't really bother us. We were there for a concert in the vines and catching the bus to the vineyards from Broke store made things super easy. I would recommend a stay at Summa-Rose cottage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely cottage, would definetly go back My parents and sister came over from England and my partner and I took them here for a weekend in the Hunter Valley. The cottage was lovely, well presented, tidy and clean, the bedrooms were spacious and light with very comfortable beds, the kitchen was spacious and had everything we needed. Off the kitchen is a terrace area with a big table and a bbq ,this terrace area has fly screens around it so we could enjoy an outdoor bbq without the hassle of flies or mozzies. The complimentary cheese board and bottle of wine provided went down well after the drive from Sydney. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the Hunter, and if anyone who reads this is going to stay here we highly recommend the degustation menu at Margans restaurant, a short walk down the road, the food was amazing! Thanks Summa-Rose

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy and on a main road This place was neatly presented but a bit tired.  For the price we paid we were hoping for something a bit more spacious as it is suited to sleep 3 x couples... the living area is a bit small for that many people.   This is on a main road with a high speed limit and not suitable for young children to play in the yard as it is not secure from the road. One of the bedrooms must have had a water pump on its outside wall as every time a tap was used in the house the pump would clang and humm VERY loudly waking us every time.   If you are planning on using the kitchen to cook meals (as we were), beware that the pots and pans are very small and again not suitable for making a family meal for 4 people let along 6 adults (if you had 3 x couples staying).   The bathroom has a shower in the spa - there is no shower curtain and the water goes everywhere making the whole bathroom very slippery.  Again - not good for young children. The back yard looks onto neighbours yards and the hills in the distance - the front decking looks onto the main road.   Reading previous reviews - I'm slightly suss if they are genuine as they are very brief and uninformative. If we paid half the price to stay here, I wouldn't have been so disappointed.  It is overpriced in my opinion.
