    Banalasta Visitor Centre Bendemeer

    Banalasta has planted 1 million eucalyptus trees Eucalyptus Radiata (Australiana) for the purpose of distilling oil. This oil is organic, cosmetic grade and anti bacterial and used in their own products sold in the Visitor Centre on the property. Tours are given of the distilling plant. They have also planted 20,000 lavender plants and harvest these for oil as well as dried lavender. Flowering time is late December and again in March. A large variety of grapes have been planted and because of the high altitude produce clean crisp wines. Wine tasting and cellar door sales are also available at the Centre.     Tamworth Country Music Festival

    This event is held each year in January. Thousands of people come each year to enjoy country music at its best. Street busking, line dancing, concerts in the park and loads of entertainment have Tamworth tapping for 10 days.

    Trout Fishing

    The McDonald River runs through Bendemeer and is well known for its trout. A fishing licence is required and obtainable from the Post Office or Caravan Park and parts of the river are able to be fished all year round.

    Bendemeer Grey Fergie Muster

    On 28 & 29 March 2009 the Grey Fergie Muster will again be held in Bendemeer. Its success in 2003 and 2006 has placed this event in the Ferguson Tractor Calendar and will be held every 3 years. Come and see the tractor that took over from the horse. Ploughing demonstrations and competitions are held, a street parade and many other activities all combine to give Bendemeer a festive feel.

    Bendemeer Craft Shop

    There are many talented people living in and around Bendemeer. The shop was started so they could display and sell their craft. Also for sale are homemade jams, sauces, cakes, pies and fresh local vegetables when in season. The shop also provides morning and afternoon teas and light lunches. Stroll down to the rivers edge and enjoy a sandwich under the trees.

    Pioneer General Store

    The General Store was re-opened in March 2008 after renovations bringing it back to its original state. It now sells groceries, hardware, fresh and frozen foods, a great array of old fashioned lollies, and the best coffee. Take Away foods are also available.

    Bendemeer Tourist Caravan Park

    The Caravan Park is just off the New England Highway on the banks of the McDonald River. Powered sites are available and the shop sells groceries, papers and take away food. Petrol and gas are also available
