Horse Shoe Bay
Directly opposite the main street of town, Horse Shoe Bay is favoured by families as it's the only patrolled beach in the area. There's plenty of grass and shade, it's close to the shops, cafes, kiosk and public parking.

Main Beach
A hop, skip and a jump from Horse Shoe Bay, Main Beach's white sands stretch all the way from the main town to Trial Bay Gaol. Depending on the sands, you may see the skeletons of one, two or three shipwrecks on the beach. If you're looking to catch some rays or cool off without the crowds you won't have to look far for a spot to call your own.

Back Beach
Stretching from the mouth of the mighty Macleay River to the inlet at Back Creek, it has a tendency to be a little bit wild, so not great for swimming but ideal for a morning walk. It's the only beach in town that allows dogs off the lead, so if you're joined by your four-legged friend be sure to drop by.

The Macleay River
Flowing from the Northern Tablelands, near Armidale and entering the Pacific Ocean at South West Rocks, the Macleay River is the perfect playground for swimming, fishing, water skiing, cruising. Several operators offer day cruises from 'The Causeway' at South West Rocks.

Fish Rock
Touted by divers as one of the best dive sites in Australia, Fish Rock is famed for it's underwater cave, one of the largest ocean caverns in the southern hemisphere. Expect to see the endangered Grey Nurse shark, Green turtles, Loggerhead turtles, Lion fish, Black Coral forests, Nudibranchs and huge schools of Pelagic fish. Hat Head National Park
Stretching from Crescent Head to Smoky Cape, Hat Head National Park consists of several natural environments including rainforests, heathlands, woodlands, wetlands, beaches, bogs and swamps. There are plenty of walking and cycling tracks, dramatic lookouts, picnic areas and with a park permit 4WD's are allowed on Lighthouse Beach.
