Situated just minutes south of Byron Bay, NSW, this sprawling five bedroom home on Broken Head Beach is a series of five buildings connected to each other by decks and walkways, with two stunning pools for either lap swimming (20m) or lounging around.
You'll hear the surf at night from your bed, and the beach is a stone's throw over a track through the sand dunes to one of the world's top 100 rated right-hand point breaks with safe swimming at the protected southern point.
Search "Barefoot at Broken Head" on Youtube for a video presentation of the house.
The fully enclosed yard is perfect for your family dog with designated leash-free walking on the beach nearby.
We include a full concierge service which includes pantry stocking for your arrival and booking our preferred local activities.
The pool is in two levels - one 30cm deep for toddlers and reclining adults, with reading bays cut into the steps. This spills down to a 20 metre lap pool. The deck around the pools is golden sandstone. You can watch the kids play in the pool from the kitchen and dining table.
The chef's kitchen regularly turns out food for 70 at our wedding receptions, and is a joy to cook in. Espresso machine and all the tools await you. If you take advantage of our grocery service you can relax immediately after your long journey to Byron Bay. Or you may choose to book our in-house chef for that special night, eating on the deck under the stars.
All the buildings are air conditioned. Each of the two main bedrooms has a king-size double bed, and room for two singles, and overall there are four bathrooms.
The home is beautifully furnished, with a plush 6m long lounge, deck chairs and a gorgeous daybed on the main bedroom's verandah.
Three bikes are ready for the beautiful low tide cycle to the lighthouse, or take out one of the four surfboards or two 10 foot stand-up paddle boards.
Just 25 minutes from Ballina airport, or 55 minutes for the Gold Coast, this is Byron Shire living without the bustle.
Location - Broken Head
The stretch of beach to the immediate south of the Byron Bay Lighthouse ends at its south point, the tiny settlement of Broken Head, where there will only ever be 17 houses. From the beach you can only see one building, the Byron Bay Lighthouse. Ignore that and you could be transported back 1000 years.
Mostly untouched rainforest, Broken Head is a magical spot positioned only a few minutes from the heart of Byron Bay and boasts a beach with a legendary point break. The beach break is perfect for beginners, and local surf schools often choose to give their students their first wave in the family friendly shallows of the beach. Over the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards.
Dolphins and whales are a common sight in the ocean out front. Two of the most deserted and beautiful beaches in the shire, Brays and Kings, are found by walking up Seven Mile Beach road and down tracks through the rainforest. The road begins right outside our front gate.

Perfect wedding venus
My partner and I were married at Barefoot last weekend. Although our guests numbered 70, the building and garden layout exuded a sense of spaciousness, luxury and warmth. Many of our guests asked how we had discovered this fabulous venue, which served as a wonderful place for my family to connect in the days leading up to the wedding, and after it. The combination of catching a wave just two minutes walk through bushland, followed by a dip in Barefoot's lap-pool was magical, as was waking up to birdsong and viewing the starry sky at night. My wife and I plan to have our 10th wedding anniversary at Barefoot - how's that for forward planning and loving the place! Finally, our thanks to Frances, the manager, and Tim, the owner, for adding their human touch.

Perfect location for a wedding
We chose Barefoot as the location with neither of us ever visiting Byron Bay or Brokenhead before. On reading the previous reviews we felt comfortable with our decision. Barefoot was the perfect backdrop for our small wedding party of 10 and was everything we had wished for and more. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised that everything we had read about was as documented and exceeded our expectations. Each one of our guests had their own private wing to relax in. It was like our own quiet tropical resort getaway with the hustle and bustle of Byron only 10 mins away. Everything about Barefoot emits class from the beautiful outdoor areas to the quality of the fixtures and fittings inside. Frances the house manager was extremely friendly and accommodating even coming out at short notice to swap our BBQ gas bottle when it ran out at night. With its perfect location right on the beach and beautiful gardens we would highly recommend Barefoot to anyone who is looking for quality accommodation in a perfect location.

We had a great family holiday at Barefoot. There were 12 of us, 6 adults and 6 kids aged 4 to 13. The layout is perfect - we could all get together in the lounge, deck or pools, or get some 'away time' when needed. The bikes and boards are a plus and the beach is sensational. We'll be back!

Great Family Holiday
Our stay at Barefoot was nothing short of sensational, we had a large family group of 14 including two toddlers and a baby. There was so much for everyone at Barefoot, from lazing around the pools, going to the beach and bush walking, to paddle boarding on the Tea Tree Lakes, we actually ran out of time to do everything.
The in house facilities are five star for cooking, music and entertainment.
We did not want for much at Barefoot.
