Situated just minutes south of Byron Bay, NSW, this sprawling five bedroom home on Broken Head Beach is a series of five buildings connected to each other by decks and walkways, with two stunning pools for either lap swimming (20m) or lounging around.
You'll hear the surf at night from your bed, and the beach is a stone's throw over a track through the sand dunes to one of the world's top 100 rated right-hand point breaks with safe swimming at the protected southern point.
Search "Barefoot at Broken Head" on Youtube for a video presentation of the house.
The fully enclosed yard is perfect for your family dog with designated leash-free walking on the beach nearby.
We include a full concierge service which includes pantry stocking for your arrival and booking our preferred local activities.
The pool is in two levels - one 30cm deep for toddlers and reclining adults, with reading bays cut into the steps. This spills down to a 20 metre lap pool. The deck around the pools is golden sandstone. You can watch the kids play in the pool from the kitchen and dining table.
The chef's kitchen regularly turns out food for 70 at our wedding receptions, and is a joy to cook in. Espresso machine and all the tools await you. If you take advantage of our grocery service you can relax immediately after your long journey to Byron Bay. Or you may choose to book our in-house chef for that special night, eating on the deck under the stars.
All the buildings are air conditioned. Each of the two main bedrooms has a king-size double bed, and room for two singles, and overall there are four bathrooms.
The home is beautifully furnished, with a plush 6m long lounge, deck chairs and a gorgeous daybed on the main bedroom's verandah.
Three bikes are ready for the beautiful low tide cycle to the lighthouse, or take out one of the four surfboards or two 10 foot stand-up paddle boards.
Just 25 minutes from Ballina airport, or 55 minutes for the Gold Coast, this is Byron Shire living without the bustle.
Location - Broken Head
The stretch of beach to the immediate south of the Byron Bay Lighthouse ends at its south point, the tiny settlement of Broken Head, where there will only ever be 17 houses. From the beach you can only see one building, the Byron Bay Lighthouse. Ignore that and you could be transported back 1000 years.
Mostly untouched rainforest, Broken Head is a magical spot positioned only a few minutes from the heart of Byron Bay and boasts a beach with a legendary point break. The beach break is perfect for beginners, and local surf schools often choose to give their students their first wave in the family friendly shallows of the beach. Over the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards.
Dolphins and whales are a common sight in the ocean out front. Two of the most deserted and beautiful beaches in the shire, Brays and Kings, are found by walking up Seven Mile Beach road and down tracks through the rainforest. The road begins right outside our front gate.

Magnificent location for an extended family catch up. We stayed for my mother's 70th birthday. Four gorgeous pavillions means we all got our own private luxury at my favourite location on the east coast. The free concierge looked after us every step of the way. And the surf was good too! Planning to book for next year.

This has to be the most spectacular surf shack in Australia! Four couples, four kids, a great right hander, heaps of space, brilliant communal kitchen, huge TV for movie nights, peace and privacy, concierge on call, beautifully maintained. The owner very professional... booking next year...

Nathan and Tida
We had our wedding here. We first checked it out late last year and felt so comfortable and relaxed. We also met Frances and it was pretty much because of how she made us feel that we decided to have our wedding here over anywhere else. Wedding day she exceeded our expectations, and the property suited us and our style to a tee. We had all our fur babies (from 2 families) with us too and was easy for them being such a spaced out property. It was simply amazing, you just can't help but relax when you're here. We would call it Modern Beach House. The only downside for us was that we couldn't stay longer!

Covers all the bases
We just returned from Barefoot from my 50th family celebration. My brother and sister brought their families so we had three couples and seven kids. The lay out is so flexible and the lounge and pool areas so big that you can really reconnect as a large group. The beach is such an unspoilt wonder, but my favourite time is the twilight looking out at the garden and hearing the wild life. The teenagers loved the bikes and of course the powerful internet! The little ones had the toddler's pool and we took the paddle boards to the lake. It is such wonderful gentle exercise that I 'm definitely buying one for Sydney. Booking with the owner was a breeze and Fran's local knowledge a great bonus.A great joint

Unique location and very relaxed
We stayed at Barefoot for an 80th Birthday retreat. Because we had two families with many young adults the pavilion style accommodation suited us really well. There is plenty of room to spread out both indoors and out. Once inside the property you cannot see another soul. Relaxed and peaceful - not at all pretentious. Bangalow, Harvest Café at Newrybar and Byron are all drawcards. No hassles with booking.
