Situated just minutes south of Byron Bay, NSW, this magnificent new home is a series of five pavilion-style buildings, connected to each other by decks and walkways. The landscaped gardens are finished off with a stunning pool area and day-beds. You'll hear the surf at night from your bed, and the beach is a stone's throw over a private track through the sand dunes.

The pool is in two levels - one a mirror to the forest, shallow with an infinity edge for toddlers and reclining adults, with reading bays cut into the steps. This spills down to a 20 metre lap pool. The deck around the pools is golden sandstone.

"Barefoot" feels like an exclusive Balinese resort, but is nestled in an Australian rainforest with a track over the sand dunes to one of the world's top 100 rated right-hand point breaks.

Prices and Weddings

Low season $1300 per night, $5800 five nights, $6800 per week.

Barefoot is approved for 14 weddings per year. To hold a reception there is a one week minimum stay September - April or a five night stay May - August and a reception fee that covers basic services like marquee, rubbish removal, gate attendant, wet weather sail and public liability insurance. We have a capacity of 70 and a curfew of 9pm. This is the most elegant and relaxed beach wedding venue in Australia. Get married around lunchtime and wind away the afternoon through the sunset with your guests.

Each pavilion has its own air conditioning. With each bedroom in a separate building there is perfect privacy should four couples and children choose to occupy the home. Each of the two main bedrooms has a king-size double bed, a single and a double daybed under nets on the verandah.

The home is beautifully furnished, with a plush 6m long lounge, deck chairs and a backyard perfect for children and dogs.

Three bikes are ready for the beautiful low tide cycle to the lighthouse, or take out one of the four surfboards which are from 5 foot to 8 foot long

Just 20 minutes from Ballina airport, this is Byron Shire living without the bustle.

Please note we do not take bookings from students during Schoolies Week.

The stretch of beach to the immediate south of the Byron Bay Lighthouse ends at its south point, the tiny settlement of Broken Head, where there will only ever be 17 houses. From the beach you can only see one building, the Byron Bay Lighthouse. Ignore that and you could be transported to 1000 years ago.

Mostly untouched rainforest, Broken Head is a magical spot positioned only a few minutes from the heart of Byron Bay and boasts a beach with a legendary point break. The beach break is perfect for beginners, and local surf schools often choose to give their students their first wave in the family friendly shallows of the beach. Over the summer months the beach is patrolled by lifeguards.
Dolphins and whales are a common sight in the ocean out front. Two of the most deserted and beautiful beaches in the shire, Brays and Kings, are found by walking up Seven Mile Beach road and down tracks through the rainforest. The road begins right outside our front gate.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing! We found Barefoot at Brokenhead after researching luxury houses in the Byron Bay area for our NYE 2013 celebrations that were pet-friendly and could comfortably sleep a larger group of adults. After doing a lot of comparisons with other properties in the area, we decided Barefoot was for us based on its location and the beautiful online photos and reviews. The photos were very enticing but in all honesty, did not do it full justice – the place is amazing! It truly is your own private tropical resort, within minutes of Tallows beach, with luxury split-level pool, open plan living space, high-end appliances, and lush green rainforest gardens enclosing each pavilion. The place is big enough to give every person or couple their own space, but allows plenty of places to meet and share time – the living area opens up into a fully open-air space with a huge couch for reading, watching DVDs, playing games or my favourite…napping! The place is littered with all kinds of great books and quite a few of us ploughed through the available novels rather than read our own books. We also took advantage of the relaxing environment and arranged for a local massage therapist to come for the day and give massages to the whole group. Even she commented that Barefoot was in her view and experience, “the best house in Byron”. Being only 10 minutes drive from Byron Bay town means you are far enough away from the summer crowds but close enough to drop in for necessities, restaurants or just to soak up the carefree anything-goes vibe of the town. Bangalow is also a short drive and a great place to spend a day. At the end of the week everyone was reluctant to leave this beautiful house and go back to our shoeboxes in Sydney! We felt we really got value for money for our week long vacation based on the location, the beautiful home and totally relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely be back! Mark, Sydney, Jan 2014 -

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tranquil Bliss.. .. is how we would describe our recent stay at Barefoot Pavillion. No stone was left unturned in accommodating our needs, not only as holidaying guests but in providing the facility for our wedding reception be it rain, hail or shine (and indeed we had all three!). A short walk through lush rainforest leads to one of the most beautiful of Australian beaches and provided the most amazing backdrop to our wedding ceremony. Waves from the beach can be heard as one awakes and retires of an evening which can only be described as heaven! We couldn't ask for a more perfect property and location to host such a significant day in our lives. Luke & Marina

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OMG amazing!! We had such an fantastic time we'll back back next year! Beautiful decor, bathrooms and modern styling. I loved how the bedrooms were built separately from the main middle living area. We have 1 child and went with another couple who had 2 children and had the best time being together in the big house. The kids could be in the middle living area (secluded room) during the day and at night they went to the separate bedrooms and the adults got to stay up late without the fear of waking up kids!! Such a fantastic location with the very short walk to the beach that was fantastic for sandcastles and surfing. The house had so many living areas and beautiful gardens we felt we were in a private sanctuary. The kids pool was particularly special - the kids loved this and we could lay on the pool lounges and sunbake and watch. I can't recommend this highly enough. This is a great option for families wanting to go on a holiday together. Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning My husband James and I live in North Western Queensland and chose Barefoot Pavilion at Broken Head for our Wedding Venue after a flying visit to Byron and a quick walk through the home. We were sold as soon as we saw the house - the incredible open spaces, the quality of all fixtures, furnishings and architecture - such a magnificent place. We organised the Wedding from 2000km's away with the help of the amazing crew at Eatdrink (requested to be used by Barefoot - and you will be oh so glad they do!) and the homes owner, Tim. Obviously for a Bride, being so far away from the venue and all of your suppliers makes for some serious stress and a lot of what if's? We really were walking into this wedding blind - unsure even of how our seating arrangement would work out. All of the suppliers connected to Barefoot were so helpful and continuously eased my mind - by the time we were ready to head to Barefoot 2 days before the wedding I was of the mantra "It will work out" - I knew the team had us covered. We arrived at Barefoot and were met by the incredibly lovely Fran, the overseer of the house. We settled in and spent the next day preparing the venue for the wedding with much help and also heavy lifting from Fran, who went above and beyond to help us to prepare. The day of the wedding was absolutely seamless. I enjoyed getting ready with a glass of champagne while Fran and the co-ordinator from Eatdrink, Jackie, took care of every single thing. It astounded me how everything was done without me noticing, requesting or signalling - it was as if Fran and Jackie could read my mind. Our day was exquisite. The weather was perfect and a slight breeze kept us cool while carrying the sound of the waves; the garden was a fairy tale at dusk when the candles were lit and the fairy lights turned on and the deck provided not only a place to mingle but the special spot where James and I had our first dance as a married couple. The house in itself is serious luxury. The sheets are so soft, the bed is like a cloud, the pool is so glamorous, the open plan bathrooms are a dream come true, you have a private path to the stunning beach which is a stone's throw from the house and the kitchen is a fully functioning caterers dream. But what really made it for us, above the luxurious mansion where we felt comfortable enough to say our vows, the melt in your mouth food cooked by Eatdrink and the glorious places in the complex our photographer found to take our photo's - were the staff. I cannot speak highly enough of Fran. She moved mountains to ensure our day, and our entire stay was absolutely perfect. There was nothing that was too much of a hassle for Fran, she was just an Angel. We feel so lucky to have had her taking care of us and such a special event. The whole staff at Eatdrink were marvellous. Everything about our week at Barefoot feels like a perfect dream. We can't wait to come back again!
