I wanted so much to love this property but it just didn't happen.
Ten of my family called 'Raja Beach House' our home for a week during the recent January holidays. What was noticeable immediately was the lack of detail to cleanliness. The kitchen cupboards & bedroom robes for example were both heavily cladded in built-up dust. The living room sofas and associated pillows were in great need of washing and/or replacement. The material of the outdoor day-bed was filthy, with dirt embedded. Even though the red rubbish bin and yellow recycling bin were almost full upon our arrival, we were reminded clearly by the published rules, that we would be fined $35 per hour if the contents of any bin was wrongly placed.
The first floor layout of Raja is generous with high vaulted ceilings and high opening windows to allow circulation of cooler air during the warm nights. The ground floor though is a disaster. The common ground floor bathroom has 3 doors, 2 of which lead directly in to bedrooms while the third leads in to a junction between the stairs and the third ground floor bedroom. One becomes obvious immediately is the ridiculous floorpan which guests staying downstairs face. Every time you need to use the downstairs bathroom you need to lock three doors. When finished, if you fail to unlock any of the doors, people in the other bedrooms have no access to the toilet/shower, as experienced on a few occasions during the early hours of the morning. Very annoying! One of the downstairs bedrooms has no opening window, just a slider that opens to a courtyard. Clearly the ground floor rooms have been constructed over time with little thought of the implications for guests. We slept in a downstairs bedroom and had only one powerpoint between us.
In the cupboards were 10 of each type of plate, glass and utensil. We did struggle with this and suggest, when paying for extra people that extra kitchen materials be provided. The laundry is outdoor, located through a third outdoor 'bathroom'. Two washing machines were available for use but the clothes lines, located in the laundry area, were full every day with linen from perhaps other properties. As such we did not use the laundry as we felt very uncomfortable walking through this.
The beach is a couple of blocks away and provides an amazing beach walk experience. Swimming here though is not recommended as it is not patrolled and the surf is rough. We swam here the first day and drove 5km every other day to beaches at Byron.

Very comfortable and well equipped house
We had a family holiday at Rajas. Three generations of us, and there was plenty of room for us all to be comfortable. No need to brIng books or games as house is well equipped for all ages. Short walk to beach and shops. The children loved the "inside out " shower. Quiet surroundings.

Perect place for a family or two
This place is great. There's enough room for all the kids - even if it rains. Fantastic outdoor entertaining area with lovely big BBQ. Good location; close to park and beach, shops and doctor. A wonderful place to sit back, catch up, and have a break.
