THE HOUSE, THE DESIGN, THE VIEWS, THE ASPECT, THE GROUNDS
Pavilions On The Beach was architect-designed as a family holiday house and it has fun, exciting design features that take you away from everyday life. Enjoy breathtaking views of the beach from every room including the bathrooms, walk to the beach across the garden, enjoy the all-day-long sunny north-east aspect during the day and the warmth of the large open fireplace on winter evenings. Exciting inside/outside design with three bedrooms: King size, queen size and a fun kids' bunk room which contains a double bed and seven single beds. No extra charges for more people.
The inside/outside design and north/east aspect are great for Australia's casual summer beach holidays but also capture the winter sun throughout the day and the big, central fireplace is beautiful on winter evenings.
Every room in the house, except two of the WCs but including the bathrooms, is designed for views of the beach directly in front of the house. There is a fully fenced yard on the beach side of the house and a big lawn directly in front of the living area, just a step away, for children and games like boules, shuttlecock or volleyball. You can sit in the living area, on the deck, or be in the kitchen and be part of the action on the lawn.

INSIDE/OUTSIDE BATHROOMS AND JAPANESE BATH
In the bathrooms, if you're inclined, you can shower with the doors flung wide open to the elements, or not (for the more modest, its great for when you return from the beach and shower in your costume); the main bathroom has a Japanese bath with louvres that can open up to the view and the living and kitchen areas if you like, so you can enjoy a martini in the bath, in the warmth of the fireplace, while you chat to the person cooking your dinner. Children love the Japanese bath (although it was designed with adults in mind) but they especially love the cool bunk room.

BEDROOMS
The optional linen service is performed with crisp, white, pure cotton linen makes bedtime more inviting. The beds are very comfortable. All bedrooms have new flat screen TVs with built in DVD players.

KING BEDROOM
The loft King bedroom, with the huge sliding panels opened up, has views to the north all the way up the coast and views of the beach in front. It has romantic lighting and its own large flat-screen TV with DVD.

QUEEN BEDROOM
The Queen bedroom has french-doors onto a balcony and its own flat-screen TV and DVD. We've just installed a new super high quality mattress in this room.

THE BUNK ROOM
Every bed has its own small window, blind and reading light. The room also has a new flat-screen TV and DVD. It's located near a bathroom and far enough away from the adult areas of the house so the noise of children's games won't disturb.

KITCHEN AND BARBECUE
The kitchen has an Ilve oven and cooktop, dishwasher, coffee machine, huge stainless steel fridge, microwave and a slow cooker plus great cookware. All mod cons make cooking here as comfortable as cooking at home, except you'll have great ocean views while you're at it and the open plan/inside outside design makes it possible to be part of the action in the living areas and on the lawn. A brand new, huge, stainless steel barbecue will keep the barbecue chef happy too.

LIVING AND DINING
The walls/windows of the living area open entirely to the outdoors and the games lawn directly in front of the house, so there's no need to set up for eating outside, but you can if you want. With the doors open, you feel like you're in the fantastic strictly native garden, planted for privacy with dune species which attract local birdlife. The living area has a flat screen TV which receives all the high definition channels as well as regular free to air channels and a DVD player. An iPod lets you play your own music throughout the house and onto the deck via exterior speakers.

YOUR PET
There is a large, fully fenced yard for your pet with plenty of space for him or her to run around and explore and shady places to lie around.

WHALES AND DOLPHINS
A resident pod of dolphins can easily be viewed from the house, sometimes surfing the waves directly in front. Almost all of our guests report having seen them. You might see whales too if you stay during their migration seasons.

SURFING
Directly in front of the house is a section of the beach favoured by surfers so if you're a surfie, you're front and centre all day to watch the conditions.

THE BEACH FOR KIDS
The south end of Culburra Beach, a short stroll along the sand, is great for small children as it's sheltered and there are rock pools to explore both there and at the north end.

WEDDINGS AND FUNCTIONS
We get many requests to hold weddings and other functions at the house and are very flattered that people might wish to celebrate such important events at our house but unfortunately we must decline these requests. Our insurance doesn't cover a commercial use of the house and the zoning of the property doesn't allow for its use as a function venue. Please accept our apologies.

WHY IS THE HOUSE ALWAYS SO BOOKED UP? Some of our guests book year on year in advance to be sure not to miss out. A lot of our guests come on referral from friends. And because we price the house sensibly against other options, it represents good value. The calendar is always accurate.

Prices quoted are for up to 13 people staying. No extra per person charges apply.

Please note: The night before a public holiday is charged at the same rate as Friday and Saturday nights for the month in which they fall and there is a minimum three night booking period for weekends that fall before or after a public holiday. A two night minimum booking period applies to weekends except where a Friday night has been booked by a weekday guest, and then it is possible to take only the Saturday night. This happens rarely, but occasionally.

Location

In the small Australian beach town of yesteryear, Culburra Beach on NSW's picturesque south coast, is just over two hours drive from Sydney. Culburra's comprehensive shopping strip will service all of your holiday requirements. Good coffee from local cafe, famous oysters and good seafood from nearby Greenwell Point, five golf courses within a short drive, great swimming and surfing beach at the front of the house, lake and lake activities including boats and fishing two blocks from the house. Culburra Beach is one of NSW's only remaining unspoilt beaches.

Local Attractions

Surf, swim or fish on the beach directly in front of the house. You can go lake fishing and enjoy other lake activities also in Culburra at the local lake. There are good restaurants close by and excellent fresh seafood available from the nearby fishing village of Greenwell Point including its famous oysters. You'll get great local prawns at Orient Point nearby.

Culburra\\'s famous Fisho is a local attraction. A local fisherman who has a blackboard out the front of his house advertising if there are any fresh fish or prawns from his morning's fishing. Buy them up before they go to Sydney's fish markets.

There are five golf courses close by. Horseriding is 50 mins away, there's a bicycle track, great walks along extensive beaches and two boat ramps at the lake for launching. Culburra Beach is one of the few beaches on the South Coast which allows dogs and its the closest beach to Sydney which allows dogs.

If you feel like a night out there's a local restaurant that recently won a Restaurant and Catering Association award for the best South Coast restaurant. It serves modern Australian cuisine with an emphasis on fresh, local produce. On Friday and Saturday nights the restaurant operates a seven-seater bus to collect parties of four or more people from the local area.

Dolphins are visible all year round from the house but whales only visit some months of the year. Each year most of the large whales in the southern hemisphere follow a general migration pattern. Summer is spent in the cold waters of Antarctica. In autumn, as the temperature in Antarctica falls and ice begins to form on the sea surface, the whales begin their northward migration to more temperate waters to give birth and to mate before returning to Antarctic waters at the end of spring.

Consequently, large whales are most likely to be seen from the house between May and December. So, from about May to August and later, the whales migrate north along the east coast of Australia to breeding areas off Queensland and then from September to December they return with their babies to feeding areas in the Antarctic.

We first chose this house because it was puppy friendly and our now senior golden retriever has been a delighted participant in this holiday her whole life.We continue to return each year because of the stunning location and the very casual yet sophisticated beachy vibe of the house.This house has become part of treasured family memories, and our over 18's still choose to come with us. We hope to continue this tradition as long as the very helpful and professional owners are willing.

The stunning house and lush garden that meander down to what must be one of the South Coasts best beaches, allows you to feel instantly relaxed. On our first morning while having morning coffee on the sun-loungers overlooking the ocean, we were greeted by a pod of dolphins frolicking in the surf. The house design proved so flexible, it allowed for an openness during the warmth of day and we found ourselves laying lazily within the hammocks, as the day cooled and the evening drew in, the comfortable interior and large open fireplace came into its own. Truly a house and location to covet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly maintained, run down, inadequate fencing This property was disappointing in the extreme. the fencing is NOT AT ALL ADEQUATE TO KEEP ANIMALS SAFE, the side fence is very low, the fence to the beach is a scrappy wire fence with a flimsy wood gate. The property and inclusions were poorly maintained indoors and out. The Japanese bath is a joke. At 168cm tall my knees were very close to my nose, very uncomfortable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Stay We are group of ten ladies who are in a book club, once a year we have a weekend away together. Pavilions was brilliant for this purpose and we all enjoyed the facilities provided. From the hammocks that hang across the cafe style sliding doors to the massive open fire with a communal lounging space that is both cosy and roomy we had a lovely time. The house is right on the beach with a natural coast path to meander down towards the sea. It is very private and retreat like. Even though there are houses either side you don't feel there presence at all. It's a short drive to the town centre where you can access a supermarket, take away, cafes.
