Out and About in Jervis Bay

Whether you're young or young at heart, if you like to take it easy and unwind or want a holiday packed with adventure, Jervis Bay has something for everyone and The Mirage Beach House is place for you.

The Mirage is situated between Huskisson and Vincentia just across the road from Collingwood Beach. You will be on Elizabeth Drive with easy access to all the beaches surrounded by nature reserves and national parks, within the Jervis Bay Marine Park and directly ahead of the walkway/bicycle path from Huskisson to Vincentia and down to Hyams Beach if you dare.

Jervis Bay has the clearest waters and whitest sand in Australia and possibly the World. It is one of the most eastern points on our coastline, it provides a unique opportunity to witness Humpback Whales migrating along the coast. It is also home to a large number of seals, penguins, dolphins and if it isn’t enough for you to sit on the shore to view these magnificent creatures then whale and dolphin cruises are run each day from Husky Wharf.

The area is becoming renowned for Kite Surfing however all water activities including surfing, diving, snorkeling, fishing, canoeing or sea kayaking are at your fingertips. If a leisurely sightseeing cruise is more your speed, there are cruises departing daily from Huskisson wharf where you can experience some of the most beautiful coastline in the country. If land activities are more to your liking then, you could explore the lighthouse at Point Perpendicular, go bush walking, horse riding, take a bus tour, a moped ride, a game of golf or just stroll around the specialty shops in Vincentia or Huskisson. Maybe the variety of 'markets' would be more to your liking?

Are you after some well earned R and R? Outdoors there are lovely picnic and BBQ areas, playgrounds and the Leisure Centre for the kids or at the Vincentia shops there are great takeaway food stores and cafes. Perhaps take in a movie at the picture theatre in Huskisson or a pie from the famous 'Husky Bakery'.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great spacious holiday house Lots of space for large families and so close to the beach (less than 5min walk). House had everything you needed. eg toys, games and books for kids and adults. There were even folding chairs and boogie boards in the garage. There were 13 of us, but plenty of room and had everything we needed in the kitchen. Very close to Vincentia shops where there was a Coles. Accommodation was comfortable and suited us for a relaxing get away for the summer. Was impressed and very clean when we first entered. Only issues we had were minor, but for those of you who might be interested - house only having 2 bathrooms and toilets, but we managed for the week with 13 of us. - no air con, so staying in mid Jan with a few hot days, it was very hot upstairs and we had some unpleasant nights. There was 1 pedestal fan and 1 bdrm had a ceiling fan. - large fridge in the kitchen didn't seem to be cold enough. (freezer was ok) Though this would only be a problem in the summer months and with a big family always opening the fridge to get a cold drink etc and fridge never being able to cool down fast enough considering the environment. - could do with a new vacuum or a supply of vaccuum bags. Would make it easier for us to clean up before leaving. - upstairs screen doors really needs fixing or replacing as said in previous reviews. One was really hard to open and other other constantly came off the rails. Was a bit frustrating, but we managed. Overall we were very happy with the house and the location. The process of key pick up and drop off was very easy and staff were very friendly. Would stay again if we are back in Jervis Bay.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Excellent Property our stay for the long weekend was great, the house was clean & spacious for 3 families. The snooker room downstairs was a blessing for the kids & the cooktop could be replaced & not enough chairs at the table as it sleeps 16 but only 8 chairs that was disappointing as we all wanted to seat and eat at the same time & also the screen door upstairs needs to be fixed as it keeps coming off the track but these are minor things and would rent this place again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great house for a large family holiday We rented this property for a long weekend for 12 adults. It is one of the few we could find with 6 bedrooms. It is very close to the beach and to the Vincentia shops. The house is very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen has all of the things that you would expect in a coast house. There is a bbq and outdoor setting on the very large deck that would be great in warmer weather. Overall this was a great place to stay and a I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a large house in the area. Our dealings with Raine&Horne Vincentia to arrange the property were excellent.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Roomy but noisey and unclean We had a large group at this property, it held us all nicely and there was lots of space for the kids. However, it was not overly clean. The place echoes a lot, so every footstep was heard everywhere, especially down stairs. Like over reviews, the door was broken, the sliding door kept coming off, both the upstairs lounges were broken, pool cues broken, even the chess pieces in the table down stairs were broken. The place could really do with a good clean inside and out. The gardens were a mess, leaves everywhere. It was really not very well presented. Oh and it smelled musty in the bedrooms, and like off seafood covered with Vanilla fridge spray in the kitchen/dining. A new oven and cook top would be useful too. If it wasn't for being on a main road, the location was pretty good. Just up the road to the shops, a 5 min drive to Huskisson and a 2 min walk to the beach. Also a nice home point for going further afield. If it was cleaned up and better maintained then I would go back. It is ok for lots of kids, and you don't feel like you have to tell them not to touch everything. And location isn't too bad. We stayed in a back bedroom and didn't find the noise too much.
