Loved this place. Really pretty setting. Beautifully kept green lawns & garden with swing. Timber cottage with lots of character & fire place inside. Everything was so clean and fresh flowers in the bathrooms. Very homely with all the mod cons. Suited a country stay near Berrima. Book Barn had an amazing collection of books, which I want to go back & spend more time there. Restaurant was great, good food, nice atmosphere and friendly service.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
What a wonderful place to celebrate my 60th birthday. The Book Barn Cottage is set amidst a sea of green with the most glorious sunrises and sunsets shimmering through the gums, pines and poplars. A bucolic delight indeed cows grazing in the paddocks across the road, grapes on the vine, a tree swing out the front and only minutes from all the attractions of the Southern Highlands. The cottage is so cosy and comfortable, it felt like home mere minutes after settling in fetch me my pipe and slippers, I am here to relax! And surrounded by books in every room, to browse through or purchase (we couldnt resist a couple), its also a bibliophiles paradise. Katja made us feel most welcome and made sure that our stay was pleasant and care-free. All in all, highly recommended (5 stars).0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
There are so many wonderful things to say about The Book Barn Cottage. We have stayed there four times this winter and always felt like we never wanted to leave. There are many wonderful things to say about this unique holiday spot and it's owner, Katja. This property delivers so much more than others in a similar price range that I've rationed myself to a few highlights in this review. Highlight one is the huge crackling cozy fireplace complete with cut wood that invites you to relax upon arrival. Highlight two is the well-stocked, comfortable, beautifully decorated and organized kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms. Highlight three is the plethora of interesting books scattered about the cottage just begging to be read while trying not to be distracted by the vibrant and colourful rosellas in the garden. Thanks for a wonderful seasonal experience in the beautiful Southern Highlands!0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
We loved browsing the books (we bought quite a stack too) and relaxing on the deck, watching the sun go down over "Bendooley", with a vino in hand. The cottage is a true home away from home - having a garage to store your car in stormy weather was a real bonus too. The addition of special touches such as fresh figs and mango was much appreciated. And yes, they are the best eggs we have eaten in ages! Thanks Katja for making us so welcome at your lovely property. We enjoyed it so much we will be back and have already recommended it to friends.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
A wonderful cottage in a truly wonderful part of the world! My family had a lovely stay at Book Barn Cottage with all the comforts of home and fantastic hospitality. The cottage is beautifully furnished with everything you need for a relaxing stay in the southern highlands. Nice and handy to Berrima and with the Berkelouw Book shop and cafe just next door - we will definately be back! Thanks again.0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
The Book Barn Cottage was a delight to stay in, clean, cozy, relaxing, plenty of books to read (and purchase), a stroll down the lane to the Book Barn for a coffee was a real treat; Katja is a lovely host and has done a wonderful job of refurbishing the cottage and adding lots of little homey touches to make your stay simply bliss. The perfect base to access all the highlands have to offer visitors; we want to come back!0 people found this review to be helpful. 0 people found this review to not be helpful.
