An elegant 1865 sandstone hotel converted into a contemporary 3 bedroom home in the waterside suburb of Balmain just a 10 minute bus trip from the heart of the CBD.
A private, peaceful and luxurious house that can accommodate up to 6 people. On the entrance level there are 2 double bedrooms, the main opening onto a small courtyard. A modern mosaic tile bathroom with shower, bath and heated towel rail service these bedrooms. On the same level is a large studio/office with internet connection and a genuine French 'foosball table' if you wish to re-enact the world cup.
Upstairs is the open plan living, dining and kitchen with original sandstone walls, pressed metal ceilings and floor boards dating from 1865. Flooded with northern light this charming room opens onto a large covered balcony that runs the width of the house. Enjoy a quiet afternoon on the chinese daybed or in the evenings, enjoy an aperitif, dinner or cook up a feast on the BBQ. The modern fully equipped kitchen has an ILVE stove, microwave and dishwasher. A modern bathroom is also located on this level.
Or you may prefer to admire the fabulous views of the iconic harbor bridge, city and harbour from the roof garden, perfect for those evening drinks or at anytime of day. There is also a 3rd private double bedroom situated in the loft with a view onto the roof garden.
Balmain is a peninsula west of Sydney's city centre. Originally a working class suburb with a handful of wealthy merchants and industrialists. Its main industry was shipbuilding and repairs which flourished at the beginning of the 1900s. Later Balmain was 'invaded' by Bohemian types - mainly writers, artists and academics who preferred the more relaxed character of the place than the eastern suburbs. Balmain has a very long main street (Darling Street) which starts at a ferry wharf with regular services to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. Arriving from the city, a left turn and a short walk will find you in the Illoura Reserve at Peacock Point, a pleasant spot with views back to the city and the Harbour Bridge.
The village of Balmain, which is only a 5 minute walk has a selection of boutiques, bookshops, gourmet food and specialty shops. It also well known for restaurants, cafes and pubs along with a couple of old churches and restored historic buildings.
Balmain side streets are very narrow lined with quaint restored workman's cottages. There are several markets close by on a Saturday that sell everything from vintage clothing to farm produce. But Balmain's main attraction is its atmosphere, pubs, cafes and the chance for some people-watching in a laid-back environment close to the harbour and the city. Several pubs have music on weekends and serve fine meals. It is surrounded by the harbour with many foreshore parks and the perfect location to enjoy the famed Sydney lifestyle.

If cancelled less than 1 month prior to arrival 100% of the deposit will be kept unless the property is booked by another party for those dates.

Best family holiday ever
The Pacific was perfect for our family of 7 to have a very comfortable stay in such a cool, inner city location. Vanessa made us feel so welcome. Our kids now want to live there!

Beautiful Old Balmain Pub
This property was quirky, charming and quiet at night although very convenient for public transport.We had the most wonderful first holiday in Sydney based here. Loved the balcony and the roof terrace offered spectacular views of the Harbour bridge. We were pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the house. Loved every minute!

Our family enjoyed our stay so much. The house is spacious, and well spread out and an added bonus is the roof-top area with some water views especially good in Summer,I would imagine. We had everything we needed.Also Vanessa was v helpful and obliging. What's also good is that the bus to the ferry is so regular. Shopping,cafes and quirky Balmain made this stay v easy and enjoyable

This property was fabulous and more than met our expectations, it was fully equipped with more than you would expect from a rental, the house was stylish and comfortable and superbly located for transport and all that Balmain has to offer, the balcony and roof terrace were a bonus and a lovely place to wind down and have a drink.Vanessa was very helpfull and reliable,if we return to Sydney we will not hesitate to book the Pacific again

Would definately recommend this property - we have stayed at most of the rental property in Balmain over the past 2 years. We have stayed at this property 3 times in the last 12 months - so yes we like it. The location is great - easy short walk up to the main part of Balmain or down to the Ferry. Roy & Joes is on the corner which is fabulous for last minutes forgotten items (food)Great size; fully equipped kitchen, great terrace and balcony. We stay here with our 3 year old, who loves this place too. We entertain most nights were are here and find it easy to do so. Lovely quiet neighbournood. Out of respect for neighbourhood, move inside by 10pm though! I've lived in the area for 20 years (living interstate at the moment), so a bit protective of respecting the neighbours!Tip: bedrooms and front door are on ground level and living room/kitchen etc upstairs - so if have difficulty with stairs, would not recommend. Only 2 flights of stairs though - we didn't have a problem with them, nor did our 3 year old.
