July is the best time to visit Darwin. Its winter, but the sun shines every day, and its mid twenties. You can swim in the ocean. You can drive down to Kakadu and Litchfield without worrying about flooding. And the mindil Beach markets are on. Darwin is a great city in Winter - also full of internationals on their Summer Holidays. Good fun.

If you want to see some serious wild life, including crocodiles, make sure to go to Kakadoo Park. Darwin is your first stop on the way there.

Darwin is your first stop on the way to Kakadoo park. Very well know destination by the Australians. It is boiling hot all year long so be prepared

There\'s not much to Darwin itself, many backpackers and pubs to accommodate returning trips from Kakadu.Which is amazing! There is the crocodile farm and Mindil beach markets which I think is one of the beat in the world but then I am a food freak!

The attraction here really is the temperature- such a change from the cold south. The Mindil Beach Market, the Chinese temple, and feeding the fish at Aquascene all provided us with a diverse range of activities. The Beer Can regatta in September is en event not to be missed.

Maree - December 2005
Darwin is the best place, multicultural, cosmopolitan, and very laid back simmultaneously. The markets and shops are really good ( I had to buy an extra suitcase to come home). The foods at the markets were just superb, wish the Sunshine Coast had a little bit of their spices. We also took in Mandora, Litchfield NP, Butterfly Park, Nature Wildlife Park & Berri Springs. All were amazing places, Berri Springs I thought was particularly beautiful- Paridise. At Batchelor we also got to puchase the Batchlors of Batchelor nude(in good taste) calender, quite a laugh, we recognise the local store keeper with a 3 lt milk in the appropriate place. Now that only happens in the NT.

When the rest of Southern Australia is frezing in winter, Darwin is the place to be. From 14 degress and rain to 31 degrees everyday Darwin was a great place to thaw out. Would highly recommend a visit to the Aviation Heritage Centre. Seeing a B-52 in the flesh was a real eye opener. The other thing I liked about Darwin was its laid back lifestyle. The people were friendly and relaxed. There was no hustle and bustle that you would experience in Australia\'s other capital cities. Will be returning next winter !

The thing that hit me when I got to Darwin was how tropical it was. It is very different to other Australian cities in this way.

Loved the museum here, fantastic Cyclone Tracey memories and relics. The city is so new because it has been rebuilt, so it has a nice new feel to it.

Highlights around Darwin are the night markets at Mindle Beach. Fannie Bay was great and Cullen Bay. The Crocadillus Park is absolutely awesome I learnt so much about crocodiles. Berry Springs is a nice spot that the locals love! Don\'t forget Litchfield National Park too! Darwin so much to see. Go and see it :)

Darwin is a great place to visit! The temperature was perfect every day of my holiday, and the waterfalls at Litchfield Park are a must see. If you pick the right time of the year (not croc season!!!) you can swim under the waterfalls which is heaps of fun. I would definitely go back!

Darwin is certainly the jewel in the crown of the Northern Territoty. It is a mixture of metropolis and tropical country town. There are cattlecockies, miners, military, tourists a plenty and a mixture of people from all over Australia. The Darwin Hotel is an institution not to miss, as is Mindil Beach Markets. Don\'t swim in spring and summer - crocs and jelly fish. You have to check out Kakadu and Lychfield National Parks.
