All the comforts of home: well equipped kitchen, dishwasher, ice maker fridge/freezer, wide screen TV, high speed internet connection (bring your own laptop to access), indoor and outdoor dining areas, panoramic views of the Coral Sea from the lounge and dining rooms. Quality linen, towels and toiletries.
There are four bedrooms, and three bathrooms. One bedroom with attached large bathroom in a seperate pavillion in the garden. 2 bedrooms are airconditioned but this is rarely needed as sea breezes keep the house and pavilions at a comfortable temperature all year round.
Comfortable family home
The property lies between the sea and a park with large tropical trees and masses of birds. The owners stay here regularly and have made this their second home with modern equipment and furnishings.
You can unwind gazing out to sea or float around in the pool and spa admiring the tropical garden.
The pool can be heated or cooled as required and is 25m long for lap swimming if you want to keep fit. At night watch the stars from the outdoor spa.
Walk via bush or beach to the mouth of the Barron River. Fish from the steps at the front of the house with prawns caught with your cast net like the locals do.
150m along the beach a bar and 2 restaurants are open most evenings and all day on the weekends or it is a short drive or bus trip to Cairns restaurants and nightlife. Basic needs are supplied by the local shops, General Store, and Post Office.
Many of the tours to the Great Barrier Reef or tours to the Daintree rainforest, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation ,the Atherton tablelands pick up from Machans Beach.
Machans Beach is a small community set between sugar cane fields, the Barron River, the bush and the sea. It retains the look and atmosphere of the old Cairns. Yet Machans is the closest of all Cairns beaches to the city for shopping and nightlife.

Beautiful Beach House
We stayed here in December for a week over Christmas - 6 Adults and 1 child. What a great place to stay it was. The house is well laid out, very airy and has everything you could want. Books/Cds/Dvds and all the appliances. Then there is the pool out the back, spa and the pavillion. This is basically where we lived, in the pool and the spa and eating barbeques out on the pavillion deck. Even when we went our for day trips we could not wait to get back to our house and pool. Angela the property manager was sensational and assisted with any request we had. I would recommend this property to anyone. There is a great bar/restaurant just up the road from the house and a very good Thai restaurant and general store just around the corner. This was a perfect holiday in the perfect spot.

We were greeted with a lovely bottle of chilled wine and a bottle of local/boutique diary organic milk - a lovely touch.
The setting on the beach and in this village north of Cairns was perfect for a relaxing holiday for family members getting together from Sydney, Australia and Austin, Texas. With a hire car we were at liberty to roam around the broader region rather than being confined to Cairns. We didn't notice the neighbours and it was very quiet and restful.
The house is really well set out with a separate spacious cabin and ensuite out the back, past the pool and outdoors dining and entertaining area.....which is the real feature of this property. When we arrived and saw the front of the house we thought ... ok .... but as we walked out the back .... wow! What a surpise!!
The rest of the house is very adequately appointed with new bathrooms.
The only drawback was poor hot water pressure .... with so many beds/people, the reality is that people may be trying to use water at same time.

What a wonderful property for a most relaxing holiday. Resort style accommodation with parents own retreat near pool and hot tub for relaxing nights "without the kids". Our children were 16,14,13 and they had the main house to themselves, leaving Mum and Dad space to relax. Great support from James the Property Manager - this property is extremely well managed and we look forward to planning our next stay. Loved it....

The stay at this home was great for our family, we had plenty of room in the home for all of us and there were 7 and a child. It has all anyone would require with the cottage feel. The backyard pool and area was great! It was so hot when we were there the pool was used all the time. James the manager of the home is great, he was able to accomadate all our requests. The area is great to tour around and I don't think anyone will be disappointed if you stay at this home. We hope to someday return to this area and would definately stay in this home.
