Facilities

Natural ochres, earth-colours and textures invite you into the main living area under a large timber cathedral ceiling. The spacious open-plan living area extends outside to a wide verandah high above the forest floor in the treetops. Bi-fold doors slide back, allowing the large outdoor area to become part of the living room. On hot days, with the doors closed, the integrated air-conditioning keeps the house cool. On the floor below is a smaller living area with a lounge, large screen television and bi-fold doors opening onto a verandah.
Of course you can take your 'living area' outside to the resort-style pool or the deck amongst the trees on the hillside below the house.

BEDROOMS
A place to dream in the land of the 'dreamtime.
The master bedroom looks out through the dappled sunlight of the treetops with the river down below. Birds sing and play in the branches surrounding the large balcony outside.
Fine linen, polished timber floors - attention to detail, decorative soaps in a Balinese tray, fragrant frangipannis floating in a bowl and a luxurious ensuite bathroom with a spa-bath.

THE POOL
Awarded third place in 2005 best creative pool QLD
The cooling sound of pool water cascading into Japanese riverbed rocks has a 'zen' like quality in harmony with the environment.
The pool is unique with a series of long steps leading down to water two metres deep which, at night with the pool light on, becomes a cool luminescent blue.
If you feel like a midnight swim under the stars there is access to the pool via the main bedroom. Throw some steaks on the bbq, lie on the sundeck with cool drinks or swim in the cool water - 'Wanggulay' has the perfect outdoor entertaining area

Rated 5 out of 5 by from From the moment you walk in to Wanggulay you feel a sense of peace and welcome. The decorations of this extraordinary home are tasteful and relaxing...the multiple levels provide an interest and ambiance that just invites you to sit back, put your feet up and enjoy. The rainforest surrounds are just incredible, providing a sense of opulence that you can literally enjoy with the deep plunge pool/hot tub. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy time with friends!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A complete delight. When you read Bali inspired on a gorge, you wonder if its kitch. This was a complete surprise in every way - all favourable. The house is beautiful, sparkling clean and very beautifully equipped. There is a generous amount of foodstuffs to supplement your kitchen needs. The surrounds are absolutely lovely. It appears remote and yet Cairns itself and attractions and shopping is very close. The manager is friendly and helpful and all of us enjoyed our stay so much that instead of always heading to the North Queensland attractions, we stayed at home. Quibbles - we needed a better map thasn on the website to find it easily. There were no local channels working on the TV. We had trouble getting the beautiful pool to the desired temperature quickly though I think that was us rather than a fault.

Apologies for the delay but I am now back on my travels again wth some time on my hands. This is the most amazing house I have stayed in. Particularly loved the different levels bu then all the party could come together for meals etc on the main balcony. Very well equipped kitchen and great barbeque. Eveything worked a treat WI-FI etc. We were having a family reunion with my brother who we had not been with for 20 years.Next time I want to stay a least a week great activities in the area.Thank you for the wonderful stay and all the personal touches. No expense spared here in making it a beautiful home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A friend and I stayed at Wanggulay for 6 days. The setting is spectacular and the view from the back deck over the fast flowing stream is stunning. Privacy is assured as the house is nestled right into World Heritage rainforest. The atmosphere of this rainforest 'treehouse' was indeed unique with beautiful blue butterflies flying past all day and colourful parrots and white cockatoos calling in the trees adjacent. The beauty of the natural environment was complemented by high standard furnishings and modern appliances and a luxurious contemporary living design in a house which could accommodate several family groups comfortably. The pool area is secluded and yet easily accessible to the home interior. This house and its environment are a unique experience of tropical elegance and charm. It is definitely five star accommodation that is one with nature!
